Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel

About
Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the course at the Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel. Opened in 1986, the 18-hole, public course is immaculately maintained and very demanding. The course not only offers a challenging game but also beautiful panoramic views of Denver and the Rockies. It offers 7,054 yards of golf from its championship tees, playing to a par of 72. The natural landscape of the golf course features lakes and a stream, which create water hazards that come into play on many holes. The course is also well-bunkered. One the Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel premises there are excellent practice facilities and a well-stocked pro shop.

Challenging Greens, Great condition
Course is in very good condition, greens are a little inconsistent with speed. Expect a 3 putt or two. Keep it in the fairway and you'll have no issues. Bunkers are not too difficult. A little water on the course and some hidden trouble. No GPS on the carts, if you have one, take it with you. Staff was friendly and pace of play was reasonable, played in just over 4 hours with 1 member of the group who I was paired with being his first time playing "real" golf. I would play here again but I would look for a better rate.
Slow play outrageous cart fees
$36 for cart fees for 2 players sharing one cart on top of a $63 greens fee for a Thursday afternoon. Slow play on the front nine, no ranger, only reason is was better on the back was due to rain and players quitting. Nicer courses in Denver that do not try and nickel and dime you with crazy cart fee prices. Would suggest you use your cart fee revenue to hire a ranger!
Just done
Loved the course, the fairways were clean and rough was hard. As it should be.
Very sad...
Let me preface this with I've been playing the game for 40+ years, average 25+ rounds a year and I've worked in the industry now for 30. Hopefully, this will lend some credibility to my review. I also typically don't write reviews, but today I've had enough. There's been a shift in the industry from providing a great experience for the daily fee player to squeezing as many golfers on the course daily to drive revenue. This has added an hour to the average round- today was yet again one more 5+ hour round! We waited on every single shot! No ranger to be found though typically it doesn't matter- they are there for free golf and not to speed up play.. Lone Tree is no different than any other daily fee course. I have yet to experience a 4 hour round this season and we play every weekend. I don't mind paying a premium for a Jack or Arnold designed course. But when they pack the course with average golfers who don't understand pace of play, have never learned etiquette, the rules of the game, who don't repair ball marks and think it's cool to spit sunflower seeds all over the greens- you no longer have a premium golf course! They belong at a muni course that is less challenging with other average golfers who simply don't care or have never been taught. It's ok to be a Sunday golfer if you know the rules, keep up the pace of play and practice good etiquette. Golf is still a gentleman's game and the sooner we get back to that the better. Perhaps charging more at Lone Tree and delivering a face paced enjoyable experience would be a better path than what they delivered today. We won't be back anytime soon!
I could play this course every day for a season.
Played a challenging course in four hours. Fairways lush and contoured. Choose the right tees. Some course knowledge is helpful for tee shot placement and best scoring opportunities. Very large greens that are firm (not hard) and true.
Beautiful 90 degree day and the course was in great shape.
Perfect Conditions!
Course is playing like mid summer. Perfect conditions. Great layout and having been a country club in its prior life.
Believe the hype!
These greens are no joker golfers! If you are in the Denver area, PLAY THIS COURSE!!!
Snooty
Couldn’t find my tee time using my last name. ? Golfnow players are treated like second class citizens. Unless there were other motives.
Great Day on the Course
A perfect 74 degree day. Course was in excellent shape. Greens were very fast and lots of breaks. Had a wonderful time with friends.
Has the potential to be really good
Course layout is pretty good. The greens are thankfully being aerated at end of week as they are pretty firm currently as well as beat up.
Extremely large and undulated greens which can create some difficult pins or many many many double breaking putts.
Some of the fairways have so many slopes you can be penalized for a great drive off the tee.
The 6th hole has no tee box currently due to construction so they put our a driving range mat to hit off of.
Carts have no GPS.
Great
Great people. Great course. Great day. Went low. Shot 73. With a triple. Go lone tree golf course.
1st time review
My 1st time playing, reserved time thru Golf now for twosome. While checking in, starter says I have toy down ad a single.
So we lost the tee time, and went to later. Checked my golf now confirmation, it was for 2 players.
We still got out.
Cart girl, saw her on the front, and never again.
Course is in great condition.
Staffing less than what I expected.
