One of the least-known courses in the Dallas area, Canyon Creek CC offers a 1963 Press Maxwell design that features tree-lined fairways and the meandering Canyon Creek. Set in the Canyon Creek subdivision, the course is hidden from the street and invisible to the curious golfer roaming the streets of Richardson. Tucked into the neighborhood, the colonial style-clubhouse overlooks the course from the highest point on the property. Canyon Creek is a challenging layout known for its massive, well-manicured greens.

The most difficult hole on the front is the 466-yard, par 4 No. 8, which rivals the 418-yard No. 11 as the signature. Hole 11 plays uphill into a fairway lined by the creek on the left, and features an approach shot over water to a well-bunkered green.

Getting there : From Dallas, take I-75 north to Campbell Rd. Turn west and drive to Custer Rd., then turn north and find Lookout Dr. Turn left to the course.

Canyon Creek

Canyon Creek is in great winter shape! The greens are lighting fast and the tee boxes are well maintained. The bunkers are some of the nicest in the area, very impressed. The layout is wide open so its good for beginners but still is challenging for most golfers.

Great Course and Club

I have been a member of this course for 8 months, and the staff, course, and club are excellent. The staff knows me by name, the course is well maintained even through recent rains, and the club itself has great setup. I do wish there were more amenities at the club such as a workout area or steam room.

Canyon Creek Poorly Maintained

Please beware before you join here. Canyon Creek used to be an excellent neighborhood country club. I am afraid to say that is not the case anymore. Lack of course maintenance and the emphasis on profits has let the golf course in poor shape. They do not have adequate staff or equipment that works to: mow properly, aireate the fairways and tee boxes, and water the golf course. This facility has been promised a well for a very long time but keeps saying "next year." Consequently the fairways are brown and the rough is hard pan with with sparse dormant grass. They depend on the creek to supply water. Once it is gone they just let the course go under watered. Canyon Creek chooses to spend its budget on a revamped swimming pool and clubhouse to compliment overpriced and average food. The golf course is last to see any major spending. Many members are very upset at what is going on here. Excuses excuses excuses. Oh, they are selling rounds of golf out here through Groupon! Does that sound like a country club? You have been warned.
