Falconhead Golf Club sits just west of Austin in the midst of the scenic Hill Country, tumbling across a rolling landscape covered with knobby cedars and towering oaks. The challenging layout was designed to PGA standards, making it one of the most popular public golf courses in the area. The greens are fast and each is protected by at least one bunker. The golf course offers an interesting variety of holes that will require the use of every club in your bag. On windy days, the lengthy par 4s are especially tricky. Golfers will be faced with a variety of challenges on this course including dramatic uphill approaches, forced carries, blind shots, and doglegs. There are also meandering creeks that crisscross the course and a number of ponds that come into play. Falconhead Golf Club's signature hole is the beautiful par-3 17th, which will require your most accurate iron.

STAY AWAY

I wouldn't take my dog here. Absolutely criminal to charge $175.00 to play here. I would not go back for free! Golfnow please remove this place from your offerings.

Good course, greens soft and fairways hard, but pace of play sucked

Liked the course layout and green topology, but not worth $145 for the round. Pace of play sucked, 5.5 hrs but no course Marshall doing anything. Better courses for $145

Overall good

Pace of play was good - a four hour round on a Wednesday. Course conditions were good. Greens are very large and almost excessively undulated, and the flags were placed in what seemed like a H.S. or college tournament locations; further, they seemed to roll too slow. Some bunkers had good sand, others had what seemed like partial or complete packed dirt. Tee boxes and fairways were in good shape, although there were several “under repair” staked-off areas on some fairways. The pro shop staff stated that they had never seen a golfer be able to purchase a bucket of balls on the GolfNow site, and were reluctant to honor it; they asked if I had a receipt and honored it after I found it on the GolfNow site. Overall, a good experience.

Played a 2:24pm tee time. Pace of play on the front 9 was about 3 hours with foursomes stacked on top of each other. Difficult to justify paying a full weekend rate with the course playing that slowly.

Do Better

Have played this course regularly since 2007. My last experience (Dec 8th) was bad. Rained a ton before my round so I tried to cancel (or at least get a raincheck). It was within 24 hours of my tee time. Pro shop wouldn’t do either. Conditions were miserable. Flooded bunkers and fairways. I understand the cancellation policy, but when it comes to bad weather, you have to be more flexible. Not everyone wants to play in sopping wet conditions.

Between this and stacking tee times every 9 minutes apart, Falconhead seems to care little about the customer experience. It’s all about milking every dollar they can. Didn’t used to be this way.

Great Course in Bee Cave

I golfed this course today and after reading some of the recent reviews I was concerned about my tee time. When I arrived the staff was awesome, they greeted me and even pulled up a cart for me. They explained the course and things to watch out for as well as an update on the course conditions, which I have to say were excellent. Greens rolled very fast and true and tee boxes and fairways were perfectly maintained. I would golf this course over and over again especially for the cost of $64 for a round at I would say a 4.7 rated course. The ground crew staff does a great job maintaining the course. I highly recommend this course!!!

Great Course; Terrible Pace of Play

Signed up to play 18 holes the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and left after 9. Front 9 took over 2:45 to play. Every hole had 3 groups on it; pace of play was horrible. Understand the course trying to maximize revenue before holiday but spacing groups out so tightly takes away from enjoyment in playing the game. Course itself was in very good sahpe.

Slow Play, Poor Service

We played at midday on a Wednesday. The whole experience was mediocre. We arrived one hour early to rent clubs, grab a bite and warm up on the range. We paid the green fees, but were told the range was closed, but we could chip and putt. (Aside, range balls were an extra charge.) We went to the bar to order breakfast, and were informed that they had sold out of breakfast. Whatever that means. Ok, we'll chip and putt a little to warmup Nope, actually all facilities were closed. So we. waited for our round, and played a pleasant, if slow eighteen. We ended the round 30 minutes later than indicated, and we waited on every hole. There was a a marshal tooling around in a cart, but not sure what good he was doing. Course was in good condition. Saw the drinks cart a few times, no substantive food on that either. Don't show up hungry.

Don’t Play Here As A Single

I was pleasantly surprised at the cost to play here until I teed off. The course conditions are fantastic however the tee boxes could stand to be cut. They were a little thick.

I drove out to the warm up area and was happy to see multiple practice areas for short game, bunkers, and driving range. The only bummer was no actual grass you had to use the mats and they were like hitting off of concrete. The charge for a small bag was spendy too at $10 for 30 balls. Guess they had to pay for their automatic ball systems.

I teed off and was told it was wide open and it was until hole 4 where I ran into another single and they refused to let me join them until hole 9 where he was backed up and had no choice.

We made the turn and then the road block started. 4 four-somes that would not let me play through. The groups had no place playing from the tees they were using and there was not a Marshall to be found to move them along.

So, I decided enough was enough and called it a day. I would have loved to have played the back nine but alas that was not to be. Just happy to know I was not the owner of the repossessed jeep that was happening when I left for the day.
