Glen gorse review
Excellent staff very accommodating.course was in good condition greens were a little disappointing but overall very good
Good Course
Had a great time playing here generally everything went well
Probably great, in season
The course itself has a great layout, unfortunately despite being the end of March and dry and warm the entire 18 holes if being played off of temp tee boxes. These are not only in poor condition, but on some holes playing sooooo much shorter than the normal tees (370 yard pard 5’s??) Greens are also in poor condition as they have been scored but not sanded or cut! Shame as like I said, probably nice in prime season.
The course is in great condition
The course is in great condition course was quiet for a Sunday afternoon it was great. we also had a buggy it was only £15 excellent value would recommend to anybody. staff were very helpful and friendly.

Lovely course in good condition. Staff welcoming and accommodating.
Excellent value
Played Glen Gorse for the first time. Friendly welcome from the staff, course in excellent condition. Reasonable flat layout makes for a pleasant walk. Pace of play was good, a very enjoyable round finished off with a drink and lunch in the well appointed clubhouse. All credit to the green staff and all that work at the club. I’ll definitely be back.
Miniscule Fairways
Once a month, we go and play "somewhere else." We've never been here before, and it's only 40 minutes away. Choice made.
As it turns out, there was a competition, and we slotted in knowing we wouldn't hold them up; they did to us, though. We never asked to play through, after all, they were members and us mere guests. That's the way it is.
It's a beautiful course with some challenging holes; the greens were deceptively slow.
Now to the fairways!
There are quite a few holes, especially at the back end of the round, where the fairway is about 15 yards wide, hardly fair on the average (which, to be honest, most of us are) golfer.
We talked to some members, who told us that the final three are the toughest in the county.
There is no "first cut"; stray off the fairway, and you're immediately into the rough.
Will we go back? Possibly in the height of summer when the fairways/rough is addressed.
Lovely course.
First time playing here. Played as a single and was still great fun. Given the state of most courses in January, it was in amazing condition. Lots of tournaments on the day I played but very friendly staff and would play again.
Course shut due to weather
Didn't get to play. The course was shut rang me in the morning to tell me. Still waiting for refund of £40.
Great value for well maintained parkland course
After heavy overnight rain our expectations were that the course may be holding a lot of water and potentially closed.... but clearly this is a good draining course and the greenkeepers had done an excellent job, with the greens in excellent shape.
It is a long course at over 6,500 yards and in heavy conditions was a slog but it was a joy to go round 18 holes in a little over 3 hours with so few people out !
The rough was manageable and relatively open under the trees. Water hazards were well maintained too and looking good after recent heavy rain. The bunkers were really to be treated as GUR after such heavy overnight rain, but that is not a reflection on the course but just a matter of fact.
Booking a "hot deal" tee time meant were were delighted with the green fee of £24 for such a nice course and would definitely look to come back again, hopefully in a drier time of year.
Friday knockabout
Course in really good condition, rough short but very thick . Greens good ,staff friendly and helpful
Glen Gorse
A smashing day out with my son. Course was in excellent condition. Very firm greens but quick and true even with a recently applied top dressing. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Great value for money.
2 lagers for just over a tenner not so much but the bowl of fries we ordered were!!!
Enjoyable course - decent greens and good layout
Gorse is pretty enjoyable, similar standard to most £30 green fees, fairly clean greens & fairways. Staff are nice, you can get good deals anything under £30 is a bargain imo. Example courses similar level around leicsster - beedles lake/ullesthrope.
Great golf
A very good day out fairways left a bit long I suspect due to the dry weather ,fully recommend it ,and we will return
Disappointed
Grass way to long on the fairway and rough. Good luck finding your ball in the rough. Had to wait constantly with the people in front trying to find their ball.
Really disappointed, although I did like the back 9.
This course has great features
I have played it 3 times now and every time is a pleasure, never had slow play. Very well kept overall, ill be playing there when ever i get the chance and would highly recommend 👌
