Excellent for the price
I've played this course several times, and I have to say that it plays surprisingly well given how little it costs. Conditions from late-October through March aren't fantastic, but the rest of the year it a great track, and the location is unbelievably convenient (just off of the Piccadilly line). If they offered an annual membership I would join, 100%.
Badly Maintained Course With Inconsistent Greens
The greens were poor, with lots of foreign grass and lumps and bumps all over the place.
The tees were pretty similar to the greens with lumps and bumps, missing markers and missing course hole numbers and details. It wasn't very good and it was sometimes difficult to make out where the next hole was.
The layout was alright, a bit short and fairly easy if you stay out of the rough. The rough had only one grade, unlike what I'm use to just off the fairway being semi with thicker stuff further out... clearly can't afford to cut properly.
Be careful of Rip off driving
Be careful not to fall fowl of the driving range ball dispensing machine! Despite clicking the correct button, I ended up paying for £6 for 25 balls when wanted to pay £9 for 100 (you have to make sure to change your selection on the card machine too). Apparently because it was my mistake, they would not let me pay £9 for 100 as I originally wanted, so ended up paying £15 for 125. Not a huge amount of money but I have heard from a few friends who have had exact same experience.. basically a cunning plot to get an extra few quid from Trent park!
Poor course at an extortionate price
I played this course a bit over the winter period as it’s close to my home. As it was a wet winter I gave the benefit of the doubt to the course maintenance (long greens, fairways like rough).
Yesterday played after 4 weeks of good weather and the course is a disgrace. Tee boxes scorched earth. Greens really long and bumpy. Fairways not great.
On top of this it’s £27 per person. The driving range before our game was £6 for 25 golf balls. The prices are absolutely disgusting and this money clearly doesn’t get spent on course maintenance.
Relatively short but makes you think
Having not played Trent Park for 4 years, slightly disconcerting to find the par 5 first now a par 3 with crazy golf and football pitches replacing the erstwhile fairway. Played on a wet day but the course was in good condition aside from one green that was waterlogged thanks to some over zealous sprinkling. Still good value and good pace if off early for what is an interesting shortish course. Café hadn't opened on time specified.
Slow play and course too short
I went to play on my own, usually I would play through the busy play, however there were so many 3 balls this was impossible.
The course is too short. I probably took my 3 wood out 3 times on the whole course for a fairway shot.
Course condition was really good.
Friendly staff who come around in a buggy to check you should be playing.
Probably the last time I play here.
Trent Park
I like Trent Park and have been going there a long time. It can get very busy but you have to pick your times carefully. The mix of 2 and 4 balls doesn't help and maybe they should allocate times differently.
The general course conditions are good, but the greens were spongy and dead slow this week, but very green. The tees are usually pretty good even though they get a lot of use.
The pro shop is a bit primitive compared with the rest of the recent works done, hopefully the new facility will be fully open soon. Not sure about the animal theme park next to the putting green or whats happening to the barren bit next to the driving range?
Last round
Been playing here for a long time, but the recent cramming (which is worse than ever) caused 6 near misses in a round. Each hole had around 16 golfers on at one time. Slow first time players were refusing to let us play through. Just appalling all round.
Great public course - Extremely slow play
Must be the best public course in the UK, the one thing letting it down is the slow play from casual / inexperienced golfers. I don't think I have ever had a <5 hour round here.
The club do all they can to speed this up by grouping individuals, but on this day there were 4 groups of female golfers who went off at 8am and this slowed the whole day down.
Decent
Nice course, very up and down though
Some good open fairways but also some less forgiving ones that are trouble for duffers like me
Average
The course was good, and whilst it is a public course the two 3 balls in front of us were painfully slow ... waited for people to be off the green on a par 4 before teeing off!
however i booked through tee off time a time of 10.44 and when i turned up i was told it would be 11.04 as other people had booked the time through the clubs website and they would get preference which i was not happy about
Avoid at all costs!!
Turned up and no clear direction to the tee office. When I asked In the American golf shop was told it's not here go right. Was searching for it and stumbled upon a shed. Was told that i had not choice but to pair up as they didn't allow singles out on the course!! I did ask for my money back but was told it is not refunadable. Even though I booked as a single (this option should be taken off the website) after waiting for the random people to come and make up my 3 ball we started. The course it's self is in good condition and has some challenge. However on a number of occasion a ball flew past me at a rate of knots with no shout! There where 4 people riding one buggy while drunkkng cans of Stella and rolling around on the fairways holding the play up. On one tee there where a backlog of about 6 groups as 2 groups of drunken friends had paired up to make a 6 ball! (This turned my round of golf into a 6 hour ordeal) All in all a horrible round of golf and I will not be playing here again. In fact I will be going out of my way to encourage people to give this course a miss !
Bore draw
5 hours to complete a mid week round is a total joke, this is my local course and the problem is that it's on the underground so you get hackers from London who have no idea on course etiquet, don't repair pitch marks, or divots it's a shame to say I will never play here again
Course was in good condition
The course was abit damp when we started out but with the wind and sun it slowly improved .enjoyed the round but shame the ground staff didnt practice what they preached
too crowded
we had to wait at each hole at leats 5 min!!
this is not the first time and this curse is definitely too crowded.
Lovely course
This is an excellent municipal course and excellent value for money.
Some stunning holes, with clever course layout and at times requires a thinking mindset with sensible game management.
Greens a bit slow but good conditions all around the golf course.
Some poor etiquette with the three and four balls not letting people play through which was a bit annoying but it's £10 to play so always going to be busy. Would recommend it
Good stuff
Love this municipal course that has stunning views and wide fairways. Didn't like the two ball in jeans behind us or the six ball in 3 buggies a few holes ahead.
Lots of holes that really test your course management and over all a very satisfying round.
