Compass Pointe Golf Course

Another new housing community with a course weaving its way through the development. Course has grown in, cart barn & a 19th hole bar building are erected, but still has a trailer for a clubhouse. The course has generous fairways, sufficient water ponds, and some forced carries over marsh. The layout is just OK and almost forgettable until the 18th hole Par5. Your 2nd shot is a layup short of a marsh then it’s uphill to the green. By far the most memorable hole. Greens had been aerated (which is normal in June) so will reserve comment until I experience their regular pace. Despite this less than gushing review, I will likely play here again simply due to its proximity to Wilmington.

Played on Friday December 20, 2019. Course was in excellent shape considering the frost delay that morning. Since opening in 2016, three of the holes have been reconfigured, 3, 13 and 14. The addition of fairway to number 3 keeps you from aiming st the hotses on the right side of the hole. Three newly opened hole 13 is much more challenging than the old with a waste bunker in front of the right side of the green with a dogleg approach. Hole 14 is now a par 5 with new tee boxes added.
Overall. A challenging course.

Course was decent but not overly memorable. Lot's of housing but nothing really intrusive. Paid full price but they had one hole closed and played the 70 yard #19th to get to 18 holes. Hole #18 was beautiful and challenging.

Friendly staff greens excellent very fast but held approach shots well. Very very slow play it was cart path only but 5 1/2 hours is unacceptable all courses especially good ones should have a ranger. And people despite the 5 minute rule can’t waste time looking for balls constantly and have more consideration for others it spoiled what should have been a good day. Fairways are not over seeded Due to pace of play I may not return but nice course

Wonderful place to play. Staff was attentive, and friendly. I’m an otr driver, so I play a lot of different courses. This was a great play for the price. Practice facilities were great, the course was well maintained. Greens rolled out very smooth, even at the end of the day. Will definitely return!

We liked this course (except for the first par 5 which is grossly ill-conceived). The conditioning was very good and layout fair and interesting. Having said that, the starter made a big mistake of spacing foursomes five minutes apart to accommodate a big group. There were four foursomes on the first hole. I hope this was a one-time occurrence because we will not play there again if not.

Foursome on a Friday playing in 3 hours and 30 minutes awesome. The course from tee to green in great shape and the cart attendant coming by every four holes was a plus. They had bottled water for you to put in your cooler before you started play and staff was great.

Course is in great shape. Loved the layout. Navigating around and get to the course was confusing at times. We will come back.

Compass Pointe has a very playable layout, none of the tricky holes that some other courses feel are necessary. Course was in excellent condition with greens that were just about perfect, even though a little slow but expected for summer weather.

This course is in great condition! The greens are in excellent condition, especially compared to other local courses. A must play venue regardless of your skills.

The course had fairly good grass in the fairways. Most sand traps had sand and were good. The greens were excellent for this area. Good grass, and consistent.

Fantastic course, friendly staff. Loved playing there and will make it a regular stop on my trip to Myrtle Beach via 40/140. Highly recommend it to all levels of players.

Great layout and pretty open fairways. Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Outstanding practice facility, several putting and chipping greens as well as a top quality range with mats or grass options. Best part, they have a course planner!! 88 my first time around thanks to the detailed course planner. Would usually be around 95 on an unfamiliar course.

This was the second time we played Compass Point this month. Care has been taken to maintain this course well. Everyone was friendly, cart paths are smooth, routes are well marked, and the layout is challenging. Once the course has matured and the landscaping has grown in more, it will be very beautiful.

Played it for 2nd time. Great layout. Greens much better this year than last year but fairways a little rough. Staff was awesome. Great bar. I highly recommend if you’re in the area to play it. 18 is great finishing hole but approach and 18th green is tough to negotiate.
