Best deal in DC.
Friendly staff. A few of the holes on the course have great views of the Washington Monument... great for photos. I posted a photo I took earlier this year. Excellent municipal course. Take at the National Links Trust Website. https://www.nationallinkstrust.org
Highly recommend all golfers play there at least once. Also has a great heated driving range, two putting greens and three practice holes that can be rented for about $20 an hour.
A Monumental Golf Experience
The views were spectacular with the monument seen on most holes, and water views all around, planes landing and taking off in the distance, and the wharf skyline with the marina in sight! The golf course was picture perfect! It was indeed a monumental Experience!!! II have seen the golf course many times but being on the course is a day and day difference. I will come back again. It’s literally a diamond in the rough!
Good value for money
Overall this course is great value for the money. Especially when you factor in that there are 2 other 9 hole courses to play, a solid driving range and 3 well kept putting greens. Very affordable and walkable course if you want to save a little more cash.
Course layout is straightforward very forgiving but doesn’t provide too many challenges. It’s great for a beginner course or confidence boost course. Views of the Washington monument are great throughout the round.
I played on a really wet day so I can’t comment on course conditions this time out but previously they were fair. Not awful, not great, but what you’d expect from a city course.
Only gripe that I have is how rude the staff was at the grill. By far the worst customer service I’ve ever seen. All I got was a sassy “what do you want look” no words spoken at all followed by a scoff at the deserved 0% tip. I’ve dealt with other staff members at the grill and they were great. This lady definitely was not.
Not as easy as you think.
Its wide open but with a lot of hazards. You still have to golf your ball and keep it in the short grass. Because the rough makes you pay. 👍🏾
Muni Golf at its Finest
Fairways in rough shape, but the course is much improved from where it was a few years back. Sand was fluffy and raked, greens were soft (although slow), tee boxes patchy but mostly level.
You know what you are getting when you book a round here. Decent price, close to the city, lots of beginners roaming.
DC golf
This was my first time to Washington DC, so also my first round of golf there. The course is very busy with all kinds of activities. The pro shop is well stocked and the staff was very friendly. I had pre-booked a power cart but you don't need it. This might be the flattest golf course I've ever played. It has a nice layout and you can see the Washington Monument from several holes. The course is pretty open but has a few tight holes. The fairways and greens were acceptable. I would definitely play here again.
Good value
First time playing this course. Easy course to walk. Very flat. Several interesting holes and lots of views of the Washington Monument. STAFF was very friendly, course was in pretty good condition, greens were a little rough. I had a great time playing here and will play it again if I come back to DC.
A Good Muni
Parking: 10/10
The golf course has tons of parking.
Clubhouse: 6/10
The clubhouse was okay, small, not much going for it. There was a restaurant like area that meets the needs.
Driving Range: 3/10
Tons of stalls & double decker. The stalls need to be updated, new mats, new balls. The range itself is mostly dirt.
Putting Green: 5/10
Okay. Small for the amount of people playing there.
Course: 6/10
A great muni for the price. Wide open. Fairways are green. Greens are fair, semi-undulating, some rough areas (patchy, dirt).
I will play there again.
Course condition
Course was flat and easy to walk. Greens were slow and I didn’t get a birdie putt to the hole. Shot 77 but it could have been much better. All in all it was a fun round!
Pin placement.
It’s very hard to know where the pin is located. Very frustrating. Why don’t they either use different flags ( red white and blue )or different numbers A-B-C based on the pin location. It’s not very hard.
Blue course
Course is fine for the money. Fairways are a bit chewed up and the greens were very quick so you’d find yourself on the backside of the green pretty frequently. Bunkers could be better groomed- the sand was more like dry dirt.
If your shot ends up in the rough, good luck finding your ball. Lots of very thick grass and the roughs weren’t clean, so even if your shot landed somewhere in the open you’d still spend a lot of time looking for it. When that happens, you get groups behind you giving you a hard time about slowing the pace of play.
Lastly, we played for ~4 hours and didn’t see a beverage cart once. There are water stations every few holes, but if you want anything more than that you’ll have to wait until the turnaround and risk upsetting the group behind you again when they catch up to you.
Again, course fees are pretty low so it’s a fair value for what you pay. Just don’t expect anything close to a private club experience.
The usual
Fairways could have been better but the pace of play and greens were good.
