Goat Hill Park

About
Located in Oceanside, Goat Hill Park originally opened in 1952 as a nine-hole course called Center City Golf Course. It was the first golf course in San Diego County and in the 1980s was designated as protected public land that cannot be developed without a public vote. The course was redesigned in the 1990s into an 18-hole short course and soon became known by locals as "Goat Hill." The course was threatened by development in 2014 but the local community fought the plans at city hall and a new management team led by local residents John Ashworth, David Emerick and Geoff Cunningham assumed management of the golf course. Using volunteer corps of tradesman and citizens along with dedicated staff, they renovated and revitalized Goat Hill to its current state. The course features one par 5 on its par-65 layout and features long views from its perch on a hill. It also has a full driving range, pro shop as well as disc golf interwoven into the layout.

Fun course
We really enjoyed playing Goat Hill. Do not order om Golf now as we paid more than if we’d hadn’t gone die to with them.
Sheep hill
If you like the circus it's a great course. It's overpriced and just not that cool. For the money you can play way better courses
Tough layout
This is a pretty course but difficult to follow. Tees were not marked as to which flag to hit toward. Tight fairways and construction going on.
Confusing course
The course is evidently undergoing changes as the dirt trucks were going up and down the cart paths. It was a very confusing layout. Tee boxes were not marked and it was a mystery as to the direction of the flag. It's a very hilly course . Staff was courteous snd greens were in exc e llent condition.
Fun Course!
Great short course. Played on a nice spring day, very green with all the rain and wildflowers all over the place. Only gripe is the temp green on the front 9, think it's hole 6 or 7 maybe. The green is tiny and not well maintained. Other than that great course, will be back.
Have ruined a great experience by over prizing
Management needs sensitive training don’t have life experience to run a public course and deal with situations on case by case basis not happy about my situation at my age not good wait till you get to my age you made me feel worthless
Such a great little course with loads of character. The greens were rolling fast and true, more challenging than you’d first expect. Everything about this place is what munis should aspire to. Pretty funny to see all the negative reviews are just people whining about carts or something totally unrelated to the course. Definitely better than it’s current 3.5 star rating would suggest
The Goat
I wish I could write a review that was worthy of this place…. You simply have to go as it’s too good to describe
Goat Hill
It’s a really fun course. Greens are really good. That’s there draw to play here. Pretty rough around the edges but lots are fun.
It’s called Goat Hill for a reason
Lots of elevation changes mean it’s likely cart golf for most people, but a fun course to play. Not long but you’ll likely score worse here than at your home course. The elevation changes on every hole challenge club selection and the greens were rolling about 12 when we played with lots of undulations. A nice vibe to the course though with lots of people bringing their dogs along.
The name says it all
The staff is great! The course is not. We quit after 15 holes due to pace. Not women friendly at all. If you are desperate, then book a time and have low expectations.
