Best kept secret in the southeast
Sky Valley is by far and away the best kept secret in Georgia… and probably, the entire southeast. The layout is so perfect, course conditions are immaculate in June- my group plays a barefoot 🦶 round every year
I was a caddie at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta during college, played every monday … I think Sky Valley is a better track- all the way around.
No better views
Pros: course - fairways and greens were perfect although not a lot of carry in fairway due to lush grass.greens are fast. Fescue rough is punishing so don't go there. Overall, course is excellent.
Cons: no starter; no help at bag drop; no GPS for yardage and limited yardage markers on course; $95 greens fees; no beverage cart.
We loved the course and the scenery and would make the trip again at a lower rate. You just can't beat the views here.
Georgia's Highest and Coolest
I play regularly and never get tired of the layout. Course is in great shape and greens are excellent. Management has done a good job complying with Covid precautions including single carts and sanitizing of equipment. Food and beverages are available 7 days a week. Nice to play a round of golf enjoying the mountain views and cool air.
Mountain Gem
Beautiful area and course. Cool in August. Terrific
greens. Hard to beat for the price.
A Gem of a Mountain Course
Having played in the years past, this golf course is in outstanding condition. Playing at an elevation averaging 3,500 feet, the cool mountain air pushes you to play another day. With the multiple tee box locations, it can challenge all variety of skill levels. The greens and fairways are all bent grass.
The Club is semi-private open to members, guests, and the general public. Lunch can be had in the Clubhouse or at The Turn (please check for seasonal hours).
At the course is a complete practice facility from driving range to putting green to lessons from PGA professional, Steve Heher. There is also a Full Swing golf simulator for additional lessons.
Our group throughly enjoyed the day, food & drink from The Turn and sat under the umbrellas watching the rest of our group finish on 18. Strange to recommend the hot dogs bit they were the best.
This course is a gem waiting for discovery - located in Sky Valley; the state of Georgia’s highest & coolest city.
Pristine
Played over the weekend, course was in great shape, greens were very well maintained. Will be back.
Great old course
Pristine course in the north Georgia mountains. Go play!
Sky Valley country Club
What a great place. The cool mountain air and the views cannot be beat!
Very Disappointed
After reading reviews and looking for another mountain course after having played Old Edwards was looking forward to this course, but not good. Look, I don't write bad reviews, most are all nice and good, but sorry, this course is not good. the layout is weak, straight drives run out of fairway. Grass was bare in a lot of spots, greens were average. The course was pretty busy with lots of locals/members I assume, mostly older couples etc which is fine, but it's also a course suited to this age and type of golfer. I was also expected great views, not so much. Any day golfing is a good day, but wouldn't play here again
Beautiful Mountain Golf Course
I played it early in the year so the course is just starting to green up. The course is normally in awesome shape in the summertime. The only draw back is it can get pricey during the summer months
Beautiful course poor greens
For the past three years our group of eight guys has traveled to Sky Valley to play. We love the course but the greens have never been good. When we call, someone in the pro shop always tells us the greens have been aerated, but are healed and in good shape. This year they had just verticut them and they were very bumpy. Not fun. We will not be back again! $60 is too much, for greens that are in sketchy condition.
Great and beautiful layout!
I've played this course several times, there are not many courses around our area that compare with the beauty of Sky Valley. The tees, fairways, and rough we're overseeded, and in great condition. The greens had recently been plugged and sanded, so they were very slow. When the greens come in, it's going to be a great place to play. We really enjoyed the round!
Mountain Views
I really enjoyed my round. Nice course with some surprises. Much more water (creeks, streams, & ponds) then I expected. Some local knowledge as to hole layout and landing areas would have lowered my score. 2nd round was much better
Very scenic well maintained golf course. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. A joy to play!
Frosty and Lonely
Winter golf... the fairways were still a bit green, but many had been recently aerated leaving little dirt plugs covering the ground. Better to play from the rough, which is what I do on a regular basis. Clear skies, but pretty chilly and breezy. Had to start on hole 2 because number 1 was still frozen even at noon. Finished on number 1 with ice in the shadows off the green. Lonely? I don't believe I have ever played a course where I was the ONLY player on the course all day. I may have been the only player so far that week. There were some course workers out on a couple holes.
Great course to play
I always enjoy playing this course and it is a well laid out course. Challenging and the condition is still better than most in the winter. Dress appropriately in layers and be prepared for changing weather conditions. The pro shop staff was very friendly and went out of his way to make me feel very welcome.
Winter golf
Course was in decent shape considering its January. Fairways were being aerated in spots but didn't affect play. Great course in season. Only con is course needs to realize people still play in winter and not lock the restrooms up and all trash bins were removed as well.
Mountain golf at it's finest
Golf course still had snow in places to enhance the views. Course layout is ok. Course had been punches in areas close to greens on front nine and all greens have had work done to prepare for spring
Best course for the money, ever!
Bent greens and fairways! Greens are super fast with many tough pin positions. Tight fairways. This is a players course. But if you are prepared to throttle back a little it is imminently fair and fun. Great temperatures in the summer, normally low 80’s. Leaves in the fall are spectacular.
You need to play this track only 90 miles north of Atlanta.
We played there about a month ago,it was in absolutely pristine condition. The fairways are probably the best I’ve ever played on and the Greens were fast and smooth. You should definitely give it another try.
