Chill Semi Private Club
I liked this place. The patrons where cool, respectful & friendly. Got free warm up balls & starter/restaurant staff were great and the negative review is not for them.
I’m a modern athlete golfer so I dress trendy and they weren’t up tight like some reviews.
But man!! The maintenance staff and ground crew did not give a flying F if we were on the tee they still would be on the fairway or on the green on approach. It was almost every other hole. It was unbearable at times. I’m not going to hit up on them and we had to waive them off on several occasions. Then when passing by they gave us the dirtiest look. This is a common theme here according to Yelp. You better start hiring folks who have better green side manners or let them know to be cognizant of players. I understand that they have a job to do just like the rest of us but they’re job is also part of the club to keep patrons moving along and enjoying their day off to golf; not get a dirty look from somebody who doesn’t understand that concept.
Candlewood Golf Course
The course was in excellent shape. Pace of play was great. Have played this course 3 times in the last 3 months and have enjoyed each time we have played the course. It is very challenging layout!
Country Club not really
Start from the beginning. Reserved on Golf Now for $89. Included golf, range balls and shared golf cart. Guy behind the counter had excellent customer service and was helpful. Range is ok. They give you a bag of limited flight balls and there are plenty in there to warm up with. Mats only. A few stalls are irons only as well. Had and 8:50 tee time. The 4 some in front of us teed off about 10 minutes late said they wanted the twosome of ladies ahead of them to get on the green before they teed off. Didn't understand because the four guys were slow too, well slower. Then on the back nine the twosome of ladies became a foursome. I don't know how that worked out but surprisingly it didn't slow us down anymore. Course has a nice layout and is challenging but the greens were punched about two weeks ago and were still pretty bumpy. Overall though not including the aeration the greens were terrible. For a private or semi private country club I'd expect more pride by the greenskeeper. For $600+ a month dues I'd expect members would expect better as well. Plenty of unfixed divots and bare spots on the greens. Greens were super soft. Really quite disappointing. Fairways were not great either. In fact to be honest I play another public golf course twice a week that is played pretty much all day every day and Candlewood was in worse shape than the pub link. Many bare spots on the fairway. Rough was in better shape than the fairways. Bunkers were good. Had good sand in them. Tee boxes were spotty as well. Course is challenging. Fairways can be tight especially on the back 9. Water comes into play on many holes. Par 3's are challenging as far as distance from the blues. Overall for the course it's just average.. I was planning on getting info for booking a tourney there but considering the price point compared to the quality of the course it wouldn't be worth it. There is a lot better out there then this course and for less money.
RUDE STARTER and MORE
First time playing here and my last, honestly, nothing exciting here. Moreover, young Caucasian starter needs to take a course in customer service. He was not welcoming or friendly at all! Not fit for the job.
Lastly, as I was approaching the 18th, me and my group, and others, were held back by the pro shop workers (and maybe friends) who were playing as an 8-some in dangerous fashion with spectators. They were coming from hole one, skipping the green, making green two the first hole (a 750ish yard, first hole). The problem with that is that it was inconsiderate in all common sense, not only putting guest in danger but members as well, considering that they had to hit over people on the 18th tee, not forgetting about the people on 17th green. Although, I do admit, they had someone/a chaperone/worker telling people to get out the way for the 8-some. How "professional"....tells you a lot about the place.
Course in great shape.
