Nice under the radar club in LA
Had a great day at Woodland Hills CC on a recent trip to LA. Course was in pretty good shape it's LA so there is going to be some brown but I don't mind that. The greens were small and very quick with just the right amount of countour. It is a compact piece of land so there were some fairways that paralelled each other and a lot of OB boundry fences as the course weaves through a valley, mature trees and around a barranca. Not a long course with very few flat lies but it is plenty tight so it pays to hit it straight. It's also a little quirky with back to back par 5's and par 3's on the front side. my only gripe would be there are 2-3 different grasses in the collars around the green of varying lengths and density which played havoc with chipping and almost eliminated the option of putting from the fringe The clubhouse which is perched on the hill above the course while dated was undergoing improvements most noteworthy was a very nice outdoor patio with fantastic views of the course and the San Fernando Valley Pace of play was incredible they say you don't need a tee time and I had the course almost to myself before I caught the group in front of me on 15 and joined forces with a member playing behind me. Loved the last hole dogleg right reachable par 5 if you hit a good tee shot. This is one of the more reasonabley priced private Courses in LA if I lived there I would likely join as it is not a course I would get tired of playing. I am looking forward to playing it again next time I am in LA and woudl recommend that you do as well if you get the opportunity
