Silo/Sleeping Indian at West Woods Golf Club

About
The West Woods Golf Club offers a variety of different playing options since it features three different nine-hole courses that can be played in 18-hole combinations. The combinations change each day so each time you play here is guaranteed to be a little bit different. The Silo/Sleeping Indian course is the smallest of these public courses at 6,722 yards from its longest tees. The course features water hazards that come in the form of ten lakes, which are situated, on the facility's grounds. The greens are medium-sized and sloped. On the West Woods premises there is also pro shop and on-site teaching pro.

Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Colorado (2023 #2)
Reviews
Maintenance Top Notch!
Course conditions were stellar. Maintenance crews always stopped engines and got out of the way when players came through — Very respectful. Pro shop staff is cool.
27 Holes of Fun Parkland Layout
Staff were friendly. Practice area above average. Course conditions excellent. Easily walkable course. 27 holes / 3 different 9s, most popular and standard combo is Sleeping Indian - Cottonwood. On #2 Sleeping Indian tee box, look at the rocky crag on the west horizon to see the Sleeping Indian laying on his back.
Some criticism is that they built some houses too close to the fairways which for high handicappers I can agree. But if you tend to keep the ball in play, it's about normal. Maybe tread carefully on #2 and #13.
No complaints, I don't live near the course but will likely add it to our yearly regimen and for any Denver Metro golfer, this course is worth playing at least once to see how you like it!
Course in good condition
We had a nice round at west woods. Pace of play was a little slow but the course was in good shape and presented some interesting challenges.
Great experience
First time playing West Woods...will definitely be back! Every staff member was super friendly and very helpful. Pace of play was a little slow and the marshal apologized to our group even though it was not that big of a deal. Beautiful course... great day!
Bypass the Construction
With all the construction going on, you'd think the course was closed. It's not. The corse is in great condition, greens are rolling fast and true and the pace of play is the best I've seen. No waiting at any tee box.
2/3 Open
I've played this course twice and now. The 2 9s that are open play well. Not terribly long, easily playable from the tips. Some good looking signature holes with decent elevation change.
Driving range set on a downhill slope
Difficult for walkers to navigate the course due to construction
Mind your car, parking lot sits on the back side of a green
WW in April
Awesome course. Arvada seems to have sneaky good courses. Cottonwood 9 was fun, Silo was super imaginative and requires thought from shot to shot. Will be back. Only negatives were there were no discounts for or heads up about freshly punched greens. Course is also under heavy construction right now. Will be interesting to see what it's like when all of that is done in January.
Gotta play here!
Great course to walk or ride. Challenging for sure. If you are even off the front watch out for the back tends to always snake you. Course clubhouse is under construction, no food, n not many rest rooms available. Otherwise the course is why we go there to enjoy the view, have a bruh and play some good golf.
Give it a chance n be amazed
Got to the course got in my cart and played 18. Good course fun and challenging and it's always a new course every time I play it.
Fun Course
This is a really fun course with 3 9-hole options to choose from. The course is well kept and the greens are pretty awesome! Fast with lots of break and lag putts. Pretty average price for the quality, but worth the few extra bucks.
Great layout with some nice challenges.
This is the first time for me at this course. I really liked the area where the course is constructed. The nature area and bike paths that the course follows makes for an atmosphere that is Colorado.
I walked the course. The course is in very good shape, particularly just entering into the spring. Who ever designed the course has a passion for bunkers because there are a lot, and I found a lot of them. However, they are well maintained, so I can only complain about my inability to avoid them. The greens are in good shape, and reasonably fast.
The only downside for me was the pace of play, and that wasn't surprising given the great weather. The course was full. Because the other three persons in the foursome I was paired into failed to show up, I spent a lot of time waiting as a single in a course full of foursomes.
I would definitely play here again.
It's early so the fairways were rolling. Greens haven't been cut yet so they were alittlebumpy
Good course
The course is in great shape, even though punched a few weeks ago making greens bumpy/fairway lies can be down...we just moved them out if they 'sat' in a dimple.
Pace of play can be slow in the middle of the day, but definitely one of the better courses on the west side.
Love this course
I played with 2 guys who's 1st time it was playing. Helped them to play the holes. I hadn't played there in 2 years and was expecting the pace of play to be slow. It took us exactly 4 hrs, which is really good for a weekend anywhere. Greens were rolling true and fairways were manicured. Those 2 guys were already setting tee times to come back and play this week. I missed playing here.
Silo course
If you are not familiar with this course, it is not well marked how to get to each hole, we got lost a couple of times . Tough course to walk !
Great Course w/ Drainage Issues
Overall, this was a great course. The staff was friendly and the pace of play well ahead of where I would expect for a mid-afternoon Saturday game. The course was beautiful and green.
The only issue we ran into was around drainage. The Arvada area had experienced some heavy raining the day before and a fair number of holes had some drainage issues which impacted the playing experience (i.e. stuck golf balls, fairway flooding, extremely soft ground, and areas of standing water).
I am confident these issues would have not presented had it not been for the recent heavy rains. I will definitely give this course another chance in the near-future.
Great Day
Outstanding course conditions; great layout. Fun to play. Had a GREAT day! Pro Shop staff the BEST!!
Needs some TLC
Played this course in a tournament and the pace of play was great and the marshal kept everyone moving, which is great for a Saturday. They had brown patches all over the fairways though and with a wet winter and spring, most other courses in the area are in great shape. The greens were a bit slow but we assumed it was due to them not wanting to lose the greens like they were with the fairways. The 2 nines that we played were really fun and are great layouts. If they can fix the conditions of the course then this place would be a 4 or 5 star facility!
