Tight but fun course.
I have played this course many times. It is a tough course that requires tee shots to stay in play as it is very tight with many white staked holes. The grounds crew does a great job maintaining its condition, and rounds average between 3.5 - 4 hours. Hard to find a better private course at its price.
Course is an OB nightmare
OB everywhere.. your ball will roll out of bounds quite frequently as it is EVERYWHERE... Condos are very intrusive.
Hole #12 is the dumbest hole on the planet. Your downhill lie approach down a giant hill has a tee box right in line of fire. Even at a good pace of play you will eventually get stuck behind slow golfers. It's a guarantee. Every time I have played here we have a had a group in front clogging everything.
For a "private" course there are too many other options to join than this one.. slow play, out of bounds everywhere and tee boxes in the line of fire.. but still the icing on the cake is the horrific 12th hole..
Terrible.
Great Course
As a non-member, I felt welcomed and made to feel comfortable. The course required accuracy off the tee and on some approach shots. Course was in great condition. I look forward to playing there again.
Challenging but fun
My dad is a member of Farmington Woods and I have had the chance to play there numerous times. The course is a fantastic challenge that rewards the accurate golfer. Anyone who has trouble keeping the ball in play on normal course will certainly find Farmington Woods to be a difficult task. However, the course is not impossible by any means and has many holes that require the player to have control over his/her distance, placing the ball in certain areas off of the tee as opposed to just grip it and rip it. I always throroughly enjoy my rounds at Farmington Woods!
