Old Oak Country Club

About
Old Oak Country Club is situated only 20 minutes from Chicago, but the beautifully wooded terrain shaded by mature oaks and hickory trees, makes it feel as though it's much further away. Originally opened in 1926, the golf course is one of the area's oldest and even one of the oldest in the state. It has undergone many renovations over the years but it still retains its classic character. The layout offers plenty of variety with drivable par 4s and lengthy par 5s. The rolling topography provides many of the golf course's challenges, from the rolling fairways and undulating greens to the elevated tees and blind shots. Mature trees tower over the fairways, adding another tricky element to the golf course. Old Oak Country Club is challenging but fair and still quite playable, which is why it has long been a local favorite.

They have been working on improving the traps but there is more work to be done
Course needs water
Greens were dry, hard, and fast. Greens have not been watered. Not a fair value for $82 . Some of the sand traps were hard too. Sand needs tilling.
Fairways were well kept the putting greens, not so much(a lot of bare spots and poorly sloped, like putting on an egg). Putting for the average golfer , not too much fun.
Augusta speed greens
Super quick greens. Whoever set the pin placements must have been in a bad mood as most were on crests.
A couple shots from our group landed near pin high and spun /rolled all the way backwards off the green. A few downhill putts struck too well rolled off the green.
A few heavy (or lazy) people in front of us were dragging their golf shoes on the green which made the greens all scraped up. The new golf shoes nowadays have longer and thicker 'spikes' on them which causes heavy or lazy people to scrape the green unfortunately I'm seeing it everywhere. They may be better off allowing the old school spikes again !
Old Oak needs to start repairing their cart paths before it gets to the point of total replacement.
$71 to play on a Sunday afternoon with a packed tee sheet... they should be able to afford to fix a few craters.
Bunkers are getting better. I could tell there was new sand since last time I played.
Had good lies all day in fairways and rough, which was great. I was happy the rough was not long which was par for this course a few years ago.
We played in 4.5 hours, fantastic for a Sunday.
Long rough it adds an hour.
No homes on course makes for a peaceful round.
Bec cart gal was very friendly and efficient. Kudo's to her - great job getting around 3 times.
I would recommend Old Oak now if you can afford the cost .
A Little Rough
Played on a Sunday and finished in less than 4.5 hours. Greens were in a bit of rough shape due to rain and a men’s league playing that morning.
Must Play
Great layout with lots of scenic wildlife. Course in great condition with a lot of challenging holes. Highly recommend.
Enjoyable Golf Course
I enjoyed my round of golf at Old Oak. The course is very challenging and in very good condition. The greens are rolling pretty fast.
