Course under construction
This course is under new ownership as of September 7, 2021. The new ownership is currently restoring the course to it's former glory days. Greens have been re-seeded, cart paths are being repaired, club house is under renovation. Many trees have been removed and some tee boxes are being extended. The new name of the course is Cypress Hills Golf Club. Please join us for play after April 1, 2022.
DO NOT BOOK TEE TIME WITH OUT CALLING THE COURSE
We drove an hour to get there and were told by the guy in the pro shop that we were welcome to play but that ALL of the greens were CLOSED! Looked like it might be a nice place to play, but the new owners had destroyed the greens and were attempting to rebuild them. DO NOT TRUST Golf Now to know if they are open or not. CALL FIRST!
Working toward revival
The country club of Old Vincennes was a championship caliber course in it’s day. Massive mature trees, hills, creeks, elevated greens. Now the bunkers are all grassed in, the cart paths are best avoided, and the tee boxes and fairways are not tightly manicured. But our group had a blast playing there. Off the tips the course is all the challenge you want and its humbly priced. The greens are very playable and the grandeur of the layout still shines through. Finally, the owners and staff are making an effort to bring it back and they deserve our support. We will be back.
Mixed Bag
Nice, scenic layout with decent quality greens. Cart paths were borderline dangerous they were so beat up, some with holes big enough to wreak cart.
Oh for the glory days
Wheee to start? The tee boxes were mown but mainly crab grass, the fairways were patchy and rough out of control. I can’t recall a sand trip that wasn’t roped off and in disrepair. The greens were littered with dead spots and patches that didn’t take. There were numerous large piles of trees and branches that weren’t attractive.
Vincennes Country Club
I truly enjoyed the round of golf yesterday, the greens were great, the staff was friendly, but the fairways needed to be mowed and and maintained. It seems like there was rough everywhere. I look forward to playing again after the course is properly maintained.
Wet conditions
Course good condition considering the amount rain pouring down in March. Greens are surprisingly in good shape. Carts are in fine condition and clean.
December Golf In Indiana...
Pretty amazing playing golf in central Indiana in late Dec in short sleeve shirts (some golfers had shorts on!).
Vincennes CC was in good shape considering it was so late in the year. Place was absolutely packed (high 60's in Dec will do that) but pace of play was great (3 1/2 hours). Course gets a little tight with tees/greens/fairways being extremely close on 14-16, so you have to have your head on a swivel & not take offense to any errant shots by others playing-- thats just part of it! Only drawback is restaurant is closed til March; but that makes sense given its supposed to be wintertime.
The back nine is extremely tight, actually looking forward to playing it again next spring/summer when the trees are full of leaves.
All in all a great day of golf... 4.5 out of 5 stars given the time of year!
1st timer overall nice xourse
Restaurant was closed and no directions to the pro shop. Has to walk all the way around the build to find the shop which ad no supplies . Counter person was not and show us where first hold was. Some hole were extremely close to the next hole. Tee bed were not
Marked and some missing signage. However greens were in good shape.
Pleasantly Surprised
First time playing course, plus on a GN Hot Deal & was pleasantly surprised with the facility. Sure it was a little rough in places (cart paths/patchy fairways in places) but overall a very nice, laid back and friendly place.
Very interesting layout and extremely tight in places. Nice mix of different length holes and gentle doglegs.
Greens were a little slower than we are accustomed to but rolled smooth and true (very few bare spots). Greens were receptive to well struck approach shots, which isn’t typical of most courses in the area right now (due to dry weather). Def need to think your way around the course—it’s not just grab a driver and rip it... accuracy is a premium, especially on the back nine.
We really enjoyed our day and well def be back—soon & with some friends. Bravo the the Vincennes C.C. staff!!
Golf weekend Indiana
Staff was friendly, the grill was closed on Sunday, so only food hot dogs. Wish knew that ahead of time. No coolers, just a plastic bag, ice mekted by hole 6, warm beer. Course challenging, appears getting away maintenance wise. Better courses arpund, won't be back
Nice course conveniently located and generally well maintained. Will play the senior tees next time around.
Great Design Wins Everytime
The course is perfect for seniors. The yardage is short but is compensated for with challenging greens and narrow fairways. If you make a regrettable swing, you will quickly be met by a tall tree-lined fairway that will leave you well short of the target. The first hole is one of the most challenging I've ever played.
Further, the whole design of the course is perfect and the age of the natural element (trees, streams , bridges, etc) cast a light of style and class on the course that younger courses can never achieve.
The course needs capital project money to upgrade cart paths and restore a top rating. Clubhouse and pro shop.are top notch.
rough paths
Nice course in good condition except for the very rough cart paths.. They are terrible, very rough and most do not use them. New paths would make this a very nice course.
Okay course
Nice course, good layout. Great greens even though recent aeriation holes still open. Bermuda fairways gone dormant and signs reseeding after winter kill last winter will definitely play this one next summer.
The Elks Vincennes Indiana
staff not very friendly at the golf course office... cart paths our very bad needing repair....
Course is layed very well
Course had some fairway kill ,from last winter, but coming back very well, had sodded in places, greens are in good condition, but noticed players do not fix divots ,also noticed fairways are being cut very tight, will have winter kill again if not careful, value was great and we enjoyed
Nice course
I've played this course 40 times over the past 20 years, but none in the last two. The harsh winter really took its toll on the fairways. Several bare spots on each fairway, although it wasn't difficult finding grass to move your ball to. The rough was in excellent shape. The greens were fabulous. They were smooth, fast and rolled true. The pro shop staff is always first rate. I didn't eat at the restaurant, but the food has always been good in the past. If I had paid the "regular" greens fee price, I would have been disappointed with the fairways. But, because of the Golf Now price, I didn't mind rolling my ball and saving $.
