Played on a Monday - course conditions were substandard, in my opinion. Cups hadn't been recut since the weekend, hard to find adequate grass to tee off from on several par 3 tees.
I left unimpressed, probably won't go back this year.
Course Conditions
There were a number of the tee boxes that could have been in better shape but overall good condition. It was a fun day!
Both open and tight with nice elevation changes
Passing through Des Moines and had the time to drop in for 18.
Was surprised by the low slope in combination with a standard rating, however it proves out.
Really enjoyed the back 9 over the front but that number 9 hole is a brute that I was fortunate to 1 putt for par. It's one of the tightest sloping downhill dogleg rights with an uphill approach I have ever seen.
Word from the pro shop was that a guy shagged some 200 balls one afternoon from the woods along number nine and I believe it!
There is virtually no water in play but that is more than made up for with blind tee shots, blind second shots, tricky approaches and greens that can look this way but then can go that way.
This course has seen a lot of play. I couldn't fix enough ball marks but I tried and worked enough to make a mostly clean line. I definitely missed one putt because if a mark I didn't see about 10 inches from the hole. It happens. Hopefully that improves.
Overall a unique layout that I would be happy to play again and I would expect to score better with knowledge gained.
Awesome layout!
First time playing this course and would definitely come back. Course is well maintained and a beautiful layout. Great course in Des Moines!
Copper Creek Golf
Enjoyed the golf course. Open and yet challenging. Carts are well equipped with GPS etc. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
Golf is a game we play
Some staff member lectured me about how the course needs to make money, it was inspiring. 90 degrees no beverage cart, course had fireworks all over it...guess the new management only cares about $ and not customer service.
one of best courses in DSM area
This is probably my favorite course in the Des Moines area. It is challenging and greens are fast and tricky breaks. Saw a deal one morning, decided to take 1/2 day off and jumped on it.
I feel the pace of play was a little slow, it was just me and my 10 yr old son(3rd time golfing) and we were waiting on several holes. If it was a normal bogey golfer and myself, we would have been waiting on every hole. The group in front of me was waiting as well.
Good course for average and above
I have played this course multiple times. It has a good layout with a good variety. Fairways are in good shape and greens are in good shape but a little hard and fast.
GPS in carts is very helpful
Great course
Always a great time here at my favorite golf course. Everything was great. As usual!
Hot Deal!!
Course in awesome shape! It’s in the best shape I’ve seen in a while. Staff doing a good job with COVID precautions. My only complaint was the pace of play. If you can’t hit a straight tee shot you have no business playing from the tips. Also, let singles play through. Long gone are the days of etiquette.
Excellent value for the money.
Very nice course, and excellent value for the money. The course was in pretty good shape, but could use some work. Almost 5 stars, though.
IT'S MARCH IN IOWA SO TYPICAL EARLY SPRING CONDITIONS . FAST AND DRY, BUT IT IS GOLF IN MARCH IN IOWA
Lots of fun!
Fun course!
Staff is awesome from the grounds crew to the clubhouse!
S L O W pace of play
I love this course!
Great layout, course is in EXCELLENT shape, however the last two times I've played it, there wasn't a beer cart on the course. The pace of play is terrible! They need a golf ranger on the course to try to speed up play.
The group in front of us were held up by the group in front of them that would hit their shots and then go look for lost balls in the woods! Apparently one person in the ball hunting group has been banned from 3 other courses for doing just that!
There was a l o n g wait between shots... Too Long !!
