Great Pete Dye layout
Great deal for seniors ( $24 ) had the course to myself on a wed. midday. Staff was very friendly. Keep the ball out of the Bermuda rough and you will have a good round. A little hard to find, call ahead they are great with directions.
This course is getting better.
Improvement starting to show. Great layout. I recommend.
Second time to play this course in last couple of weeks, Course continues to show improvements with new sod being laid in problem areas, and much better than it was earlier in the year. Word must be getting around, noticed more golfers there today than any time recently. Enjoy the quiet surroundings and would go back anytime.
Big improvement in course conditions
My team had stopped playing here a couple of months ago due to the course condition, I think they must have cut the grass too short and it had lots of dry grass areas. The course has come back and is in good condition now, this is one of our favorite places and we will return again. I recommend it to everyone.
Awesome Layout, Just Needs Some Maintenance!
Second time playing this course and the conditions of the course have gone down hill. Greens were the best part of the course, but were still slow. Fairways needed some water and they need to spray. Bunkers were not very good. I love the layout of this course! Will return!
Nice Layout - worth Golfnow Price
This Pete Dye layout sets up for a fun round of golf. Without many trees it was visually challenging to determine distances. Good thing we had our distance finder. Almost no one else around the course. Staff was very friendly, fairways were in average condition, the rough was a fair length, greens were a bit slower than we are used to, but rolled true and were nicely undulating. The traps were more like waste bunkers, not really playable. Would certainly go back for the price. Too bad it is "out a ways" from anywhere.
Horrible Management - Course No Better
Extremely rude general manager who seemed put off that he even had to deal with our 4-some. Course conditions are horrible - dry, no bunkers and greens were in poor condition. I would avoid this course and their rude employees at all cost.
Needs TLC
Nice course, but maintenance is lacking. Many large underground pests-bugs are a nuisance. Course needs weeding cutting sand is poor. Overall layout is very nice and fair. Could be a great course but location does not allow enough income to maintain it.
Big dissapointment
My group drove 2 to 2.5 hours to get there. There was no restaurant at the resort but they dug up 3 hot dogs some chips and 3 sodas for $21 and said they would drive into town and try to have some hamburgers next day. Traps full of weeds and not playable. Rough either over grown or they were getting ready for U.S. open. Great Pets Dye layout but very poorly maintained. Course could have been worth $50 a round but with poor facility and maintenance the $16.50 was to much. Did not see inside lodges but was not impressed enough to pay. $120 to $140 per night for what I saw with muffin and bagel breakfast. They will sell you charcoal.if you stay there so you can bring and cook your own burger.
What a shame
This Pete Dye course is a great layout, but it has fallen into such disrepair that I could not recommend it to anyone. Most tee boxes were chopped up and hadn't been mowed in awhile. Many bunkers were unplayable. Fairways were shaggy. It really needs some TLC. I hadn't played it in a few years, but I can't see going back unless they get it in better shape. There are too many other really nice courses in the area to put up with this.
Great early season golf
This is one of my favorite course designs. Seems more challenging than slope rating indicates. Fairways are coming in nicely. Greens are good and putt very true. Sand needs considerable work. In a week or so this will be a wonderful round without the crowds and a bargain for the wallet. Hope they are able to get back to Top 10 status soon!
Spring Golf
They are really working hard to make this course BETTER!!! It is spring golf in Kentucky! Fairways are coming in and the greens were fuzzy! But they have got about half the traps now with sand and it is never busy! For the money it is worth the trip to Garrard Co!!!!
Loved the course. Greens in great shape.
While finding the course was a little challenging, it was worth it once I got there.
First impressions.
I have heard about the course but never found the opportunity to play it....I'm glad I did. The excitement of playing this course was high based on this being a Pete Dye course. There is a driving range and a practice putting green.
Rolling Kentucky hills and beautiful weather made this a great experience. The course was nice and the greens were in decent shape but fast! We need rain. I like the layout but you have to be wary of other golfers. We had to wait several times for guys driving on our fairway from a sliced ball or just tight fairways....that happens on other courses but this day was busy with off shots. Basically some areas are just tight but it's ok.
I'll be back now that I have an better idea of how to play a few holes better. Good value on a decent course.
8.26.16 Weekend review
The course is in terrible shape. The fairways are 90% crabgrass. A few of the greenside bunkers are playable, however all fairway bunkers are unplayable. The tee boxes are in worse shape than the fairways and contain a mixture of crabgrass and dirt/dead spots. The greens are decent, however a few greens have un-playble sections and are beat up. The rough is a mixture of thick clover and grass, making it difficult to find golf balls and get a decent lie. I would not recommend this course. The villas have been improved slightly, but the course is a disaster. The staff was not understanding and charged full price for a course that was in terrible shape.
