Fairway Hills Golf Club

This would be an excellent golf course if the condition of the course was in better shape. Sticks and branches from the trees were all over the place. The tee boxes had a lot of uneven clumpy grass growing. I'm gonna come back later in the summer to see if things are better. Thanks

1) Despite booking for 18 holes, was told my group could only play 9 because sunset was at 7:20pm. My tee time was 3:50pm. I understand possibly not getting a full round in, but I'm an adult. I can head back to the club house when it starts getting dark.
2) My group was paired with a walker, despite 2 empty tee times before ours and 2 empty tee times after ours. WHY?!
3) The cart disabled twice because I was in a "restricted area". The restricted areas were THE CART PATH. You know... the smooth blacktop that we were told to stay on.

With no rain in more than a month, I was pleased with the quality of the tees, fairways and greens. Although brown, there was grass in the fairways that avoided tight lies. I could sink my tee into the tees. The greens were green and reasonably-paced.

Too many people playing who are clueless about pace of play and a course MGMT who doesn't care once they take your money

I play this course about once each year as a Tee Off Deal and I live in Columbia. The course has some odd hole designs as it is squeezed in among various types of residences in Columbia. The course conditions were actually quite good despite some earlier reviews that suggested otherwise. The greens were generally excellent and rather fast; a few of the tee boxes were somewhat neglected but certainly playable; the fairways were brown but generally very playable; the bunkers appeared to be recently edged, very neat, all raked but with minimal sand layer. Scheduling management was an issue with some type of a morning high school player event with 6 hour plus rounds that led to a backlog of paying players with tee times in the afternoon. Started on hole #10 but behind a very slow foursome that led to slow pace of play for 9 holes (2:45 first nine) and then came around to hole #1 and found other new players starting a late 9 hole round placed in front of us. Darkness was closing in as finished the 18 hole round.
