fantastic donald ross north shore gem
This place is a treat to play! It is in amazing shape with beautiful sight lines, wide open tall fescue, and pure greens. If you are playing it for the first time bring some extra balls and play with someone who knows it well. Greens are mint along with the tee boxes. Walking only more or less unless you can't walk. Lots of tricky tee shots including some blind approaches and tons of elevation changes on the back 9. Highly recommend coming here if you know someone. Have also played on their grass tennis courts which is an incredible experience in itself.

Played yesterday. Everyone seemed nice until I let them know that my wallet was stolen out of my car. Their response was that they have had that problem a lot recently? Sounds to me like they have a employee problem. LOCK UP YOUR STUFF if you go there.

10 Stars. Essex County Club is a Donald Ross Masterpiece. Plus he was The Golf Pro on site for 7yrs!! He Adored the club and especially the members

Seeing that ECC cracked the Golf Digest Top 100 I had to post a comment.
I was Not a member of this club. I was the Bar Manager. (but played the course prolly 100 times) All thru the 90s.
It's truly an Amazing Country Club, Great History. The Golf Course is a Donald Ross Masterpiece! The Greens have false fronts, run offs, one green has a BATHTUB swale in in the middle. It's a Thinking Mans Course..not long..but its Tricky! I'd like to acknowledge The Members. ALWAYS Treated myself, The BarStaff , ProShop, Waitstaff , Kitchen Very.Very Kindly, They are Classy and Darn Good Golfer's!! The BOYS of Summer especially. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to be there during the Tiger Era. Hope everyone is well. Insurance is certainly not as.Fun..
