Butternut GC 4/10/25
Great early springtime conditions. Well manicured t-boxes, fairways with consistent rolling greens. The groves were free of winters past with the grounds crew hard at work. Friendly club house staff and a starter that was on point.
Great fall/pre winter conditions. Leaf patrol was well mantained. Friendly club house staff. Pace of play was perfect seeing how we had the course to ourselves. My kind of golf.
No raincheck!
Unexpected events happen - could not play the back 9 - expensive course and no raincheck.
Leaves, wet areas, good greens.
As you can imagine there are a lot of leaves in and around this course, if you hit your ball in it is most likely lost, very hard to locate it. The course has some areas that are pretty wet, unusual since it has been very dry lately. Greens are in good shape, rolling fast.
Always a Quick Round
Greens and fairways are in good shape. Tee boxes need some work. The course is easy to walk and the pace of play was excellent. Early tee time and finished in 3.5 hours.
Fall Golf - Good Course
Course was in good shape. Tee boxes a little worn. Downpour of rain for first 2 holes and then cleared up. By then turn, it was a perfect day.
Love Butternut!
I drive an hour to play this course.... it is pretty and challenging, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!
Good course, middle of maintenance.
First hole, the green was so slow, needed a haircut. I was disappointed as we played 8 holes like this. Then the maintenance crews came out to cut greens, much better after and we were able to enjoy the round. Greens still have a lot of sand as they recover from aeration.
Very narrow but mostly fair course
Good challenging course due to very narrow fairways. Trees/woods line both side of fairway on almost all holes. 600 years par 5 (from white tees) is almost unfair. Narrow fairways, dogleg, and approach to green protected by water. Par on that hole is huge accomplishment but very unlikely. . Greens just aerated so hard to judge. The tee boxes were in bad shape and the worst part of the course. This caused me to give a 3* rating. Otherwise 4*. Pace of play was very good but it could get slow on crowded weekend due to folks looking for balls in woods. Overall, it’s worth a visit.
Nice, but slow
I really enjoy this course. The layout is very challenging and always in good condition. That said, we had a 4 and a half hour round and the ranger stopped us on 17 due to darkness.. We had a very slow group in front of us and the ranger didn't speed them up until it was too late. It was still a good time out with the sticks!
Great course tucked away in woods of New England!
I have played here several times, the course is tight but fair. The staff is so friendly and I am always paired with the kindest people.
Love butternut
Greens were great, fairways on great shape. My power fade allowed me to enjoy the rough which clearly is end user error, also great. Such a nice course. Love it
Walkable course, fun to play.
The course is good overall, some burned spots due to weather, t-boxes are rough, greens are good but rolling a little slow. They expect to do aeration soon and it will help the course in the long run.
Great weather, good company made for a fun round.
Gem
I first visited last year for a round. Ended up coming back three times this year. Bring 45 minutes outside of Boston, as a course accessible to the public there is great value for your money here. Don’t let tight fairways deter you, this place, staff and layout are awesome.
