Avoid at all costs
I’m not one to normally write a review, but felt the condition of this course is worth writing one. First, in full disclosure, I only played 9 holes while my wife shopped in Townsend. I wish I had read the reviews BEFORE I played because, as much as I hate shopping, I would have skipped playing this course. I’m no “golf snob” and enjoy playing all types of courses but this was an absolute waste of $43. I would have been even more ticked had I paid $86 for 18 as I’m playing championship level courses in Loudon and paying less!!!
The course has tremendous potential, but in reading older reviews, the conditions/maintenance aren’t a new problem. Weeds in all fairway's, bare tee box’s littered with broken tees and greens that appeared to have gone without being mown for at least 2-3 days.
Do yourself a favor, and avoid this course. I realize that’s a pretty harsh statement, and I don’t take writing this lightly.
Favorite course, conditions worsening
This was hands down one of our favorite courses over many years. There was a recent storm, and they cleaned up beautifully. But…..over the last couple years, the green and fairway maintenance has gone down. We hope they figure out how to prep the course for the growth season ahead!!
I had a great round.
I had a great round of golf even though we are still playing in winter conditions. I like the layout of the course.
They have done a great job on the interior of the clubhouse. The staff is friendly and helpful. The golf carts are well taken care of. The Greens and fairways were in great shape but could be better if people would fill their divots and repair their ball marks on the greens. I look forward to golfing here again.
Mountain golf
Thoroughly enjoyed my round. The greens were in excellent condition. Tee boxes and fairways were what you expect just getting out of winter but not poor by any means.
Great mountain views
Beautiful course in Smoky Mountains in the beautiful area of Townsend Tn. Take your clubs with you when visiting the area and enjoy a quick 9 or 18. Played 9 in 1 hour 12 mins.
Great value and great views
We had a great time playing here. First time to the area and the staff was so helpful. The clubhouse was awesome with a great bar and balconies with amazing views. Course has a good layout with some challenging holes, but didn’t feel too difficult for high handicappers. Some of the greens and tee boxes could have been in better condition, but overall we loved it. Can’t beat the views and the value was excellent, especially compared to our home courses in the northeast.
Mountain Paradise for Golfers
This course has breathtaking views, a challenging layout , and friendly staff. I’ve played many fine courses and this one is now near the top of my favorite list. I’m looking forward to my next round.
A Feast for the eyes & game
I had a friend visit and we wanted to golf. I wanted to share the beauty of our Great Smoky Mountains with her as well. We had a fun game the course was well maintained and challenging. I will definitely go back.
GSM Gem
The views from the course were amazing. Course in fairly good shape for October and lack of rain. And the green fees were reasonable compared to other courses. Absolutely beautiful.
Great taste of Tennessee golf
Golfed the Wild Laurel course back to back days recently. Fun yet challenging par 70 layout. Great for average golfers yet has a great mix of some narrow fairways and dogleg to keep you surprised and challenged. After you are done be sure to go in to the bar for a PB&J........refreshment. You'll thank me later.
Coarse
Enjoyed the coarse, very challenging, in good shape
Wish it was better
We booked our tee team on the site and once we got to the golf course they tried to tell us that we didn't have a tee time even when showing them the confirmation code they was still a little hesitant but did end up letting us play but all the employees was very rude and acted like they didn't want to help us at all the customer service there really needs some work and the course it's self wasn't in good shape and we are on vacation and it will be the first and last time of us visiting this course.
Good course for the money
It’s only a par 70 but a fun course to play. Stay in the fairways or you will lose some balls in the high rough.
