Course closed permanantly
Owner didn't do upkeep on any of the equipment and fairways were almost as long as the rough. All the carts are broken and there is no indoor bar.
Update for 2023 - Weasel owner has closed the course permanently leaving all of the locals high and dry for a golf course to play.
Challenging Play and SO Beautiful
This is one of my favorite courses! The climate at The River is so temperate that even in a hot summer the greens are in great condition. The grass is always good here! The course itself is extremely roomy with 160+ acres of golf in the middle of acres of wilderness. There’s plenty of room and you’ll never pile up on a tee. Even the Pros will find challenges in this course. Hole 4 comes to mind—watch for it! Unlike a lot of urban golf courses, The River has great variety in its terrain. Hills, level land, rolling, it’s all here. Several ponds, copses, and thick forests abound. Don’t be surprised if you see a few deer at the edge of the woods.
After your game head to the on-site bar and restaurant—it’s superb! Always friendly service and excellent food.
Have I mentioned that this is a fantastic golf club? Make the trip—you won’t be sorry!
Impressive staff!
I traveled 4 hrs to The River after hearing about the updating from golf course in Mora, MN. I was extremely impressed with the staff going way above expectations! The views from the course looking over Rainy River and into Canada are breathtaking. The course itself was in great shape. There was a newly updated clubhouse and new event building. I loved it and will be back many times throughout the summer. Thank you again to the staff!!!
This course has great features
Every single time I have come to golf here, I've had an amazing time and nothing has ever gone wrong. Everyone is super nice and has respect for everyone that walks through the door. The facility is always in great shape. Nothing but great experiences and great times at The River
