Not natural....
I don't have anything against Rivercut but these are my observations, this course has been ''manufactured'', meaning the big mounds around greens and tee boxes were made with bull dozier and not the natural lay of the land which older golf course architects seemed able to capture when designing golf holes. And I'm just not a big fan of these kind of golf courses where the mounds are so severe you have no chance to get the ball up and down, just take your double bogey and head to the next tee!
One of the Best Public Options in Springfield
Not a ton of public courses in the Springfield area which makes this one the #1 public course in the area by default. The entire course floods every couple years so it always has new bridges! It's usually in decent condition but not great. Every time I have played here (5-6 times over the past 5-6 years) the pace of play has been awful. The layout is fun and can be tough from the tips. I feel it's a little overpriced for what it is. Not a bad track but if you are an out of Towner, do yourself a favor and drive 30 minutes south to Branson and play down there instead.
Great Course
Rivercut Golf Course was fun to play. Holes are varied in length and greens were challenging but puttable. No to holes seemed the same and had to use all of the clubs in the bag to get around. Staff was very friendly. It is out of Springfield a bit and you feel like you are in the Missouri Hills. It was a great experience to play.
Best public course in Springfield
Great course and scenic views. Practice areas are second to none.
Wow! Good course. Loved it!
I always ask courses if they have a signature hole or is there is anything special we need to know. Its their chance to brag and show off knowledge and you can learn a lot! The staff here was a 11 on a scale of 10. Not windy, but simple easy information and instructions to play the course. The greens and fairways were in very good shape. Lots of hazards and water and they were not hidden. Easy to find them and I did! Not very busy, a true hidden gem. I can't wait to go play it again.
A favorite let us down
We usually travel to Springfield to play a couple of times a year. Rivercut is one of our regular stops. This trip was a huge disappointment. We got to the practice green and it was as long as the collar. We were hoping it was just that green. It turned out that was wishful thinking. There were certain holes that you were unable to tell if you were on the green or the fringe. Bunkers hadn't been raked, holes not changed, and tee markers not moved for a while. It doesn't, mean I won't go back but I was very disappointed to pay $55 for that condition of course.
Enjoyable
Have played the course several times and always enjoy it. Fairly challenging, yet always enjoyable. Every time I have played the course it has been in very good condition.
