Course in terrible shape
It is a shame that NYS does not spend any money on this course. There is nothing good to say about the course. Sand traps had grass growing in them. Canadian geese and their droppings are everywhere. Greens fairways and tee boxes are in bad shape. We played Red to green. Worst kept course I have played this year. If it was free i would not play here. NYS is keeping Bethpage in good condition but sunken meadow is going downhill fast.
Winter golf
Decided to play 9 holes and made an 11:00 tee time that morning. The weather was overcast and temps were about 50 degrees. The course was enjoyable to walk using a golf cart and the pace of play was about 2:15 , a bit slower than I would have liked. But the course was in pretty good shape, the greens a little sparse but not bad considering dec. weather.
I play to a 12 hdcp and shot 5 over, not bad for this time of year. You can’t beat the price and would definitely recommend this complex, weather permitting.

Skip the Blue
The blue is unplayable. You can putt at all. The greens were dirt and the ball bounces the entire time.
Cool fairways to play in with the hills. But that was the only enjoyable part.
Recommend to only play 9 on the red. It's in great shape. But rushed through it with a 3:33 tee time.
Great course, friendly staff and well-maintained greens
This is a NY State course that is open all-year round. Easy to get in and out. Located on the North Shore of Long Island. Go value for the money.
Nice layout but long round and slow greens
The layout of the course is actually pretty nice. The greens have nice undulations, but they are extremely slow because they don’t roll/cut them enough. And considering this is Memorial Day weekend, then this is definitely the norm for the course. Even with a tee time at 7am, the round still took 5+ hours.
