Rollicking Course
Nothing "vanilla" about this course. Lots of hole layouts you haven't seen before. Interesting enough that twice around the 9 holes does not seem repetitive.
Kinda wet... but enjoyed
Beautiful day. Hadn’t rained in 3 or 4 days, yet some fairways were soggy and muddy. Sand traps not taken care of.
Otherwise, enjoyed the course. Very tight Pace of play was good. 9 holes in under 2 hrs.
Would play again.
Miserable round
I played this course a long while ago and I remember it being maintained impeccably.
And let me preface my bad review by saying that I like the course layout—it would be a fun track to play —if someone cared for The neglected course—-the course looks TIRED! Fairways, greens not in very good shape.
The pace of play was horrible. There is NO starter, no rangers so you’re out there on your own. Mind you, this is a 9 hole course that you play twice. So just imagine a backup at the 1st tee then there are foursomes coming off nine and heading back to the 1st tee to continue their back nine! What a mess.
To make matters worse, we finish an excruciatingly slow front nine and we are happy that the group in front of us is finishing their round. Thinking the pace of play would speed up........Only to drive up the the 1st tee to play our back nine and find a 5-SOME on the 1st tee-teeing off!!! UGH!
No organization
The course layout is actually nice. This was fun and challenging—-that’s where to good part of the experience ends.
The conditions were not.bey good..Unrepaired divots all over the fairways, unrepaired ball marks littered the greens. Overall the maintenance looked”tired”.
There is no starter, no course rangers so all golfers arrive at the 1st tee around their scheduled tee time. Since this is a 9 hole course you play the 9 hoes twice, there were groups showing up at the 1st tee that were making the turn , along with new groups just beginning their round—-without any organization.
The pace of play was incredibly slow. From the 1st hole throughout 18 (9 holes twice).
At one point in our rounds a worker had come by to ask us to speed up the pace of play. We were a twosome and I explained to the gentleman that we were right behind the group ahead of us and we’ve been waiting on every Teebox and every fairway. So myself and my partner put out and drive up to the next hole only to find the next group that didn’t even cheat off yet.
To make matters worse, we make the turn on nine and head to the first tee again to continue our round. We were happy to find out that the group ahead of us was finished for the day so we thought this would speed things up. We get to the first tee Only to find a new group ahead of us teeing off and there are 5 golfers in their group!!
Incredibly disappointed!!
Nice course to play.
I played golf on this course. The facility is fine. There was too much interruption that day because of the maintenance of the course. There was little help from the staff. Overall it was fun to play golf here
Doral has been better
For years we have loved playing 9 or 18 at Doral. However, due to a wet couple of weeks prior to playing this round, and a lot of rounds played on the course... the course had taken a bit of a hit. Greens and fairways were choppy and in need repair. Looking forward to some excellent fall golf at Doral.
Would have entered zero stars - NEVER AGAIN!
Although I live very close, I hadn't played here in a while because I don't love the layout and it's a little pricey, but my son is just learning the game and I'll play anywhere with him, so I opted for the convenience. What a disaster; here is a brief rundown of all the negatives - NO WATER on any holes (fountains, coolers, cart girls, nothing). Bad under any circumstances, REALLY bad when it's 90 degrees. Half the ball washers were empty. Fairways and greens poorly maintained and in mediocre shape, and I'm factoring in the excessive rain the last 2 days. On top of all that, here's the thing that really ticked me off - when I asked the kids in the pro shop about the lack of water, they couldn't give me an explanation. Although I told them I didn't think it was their fault, I was pretty frustrated, and as I was walking toward my car, I saw one of the kids laughing through the window. I would have confronted him about it but my son was waiting in the car. I don't care how close I live to this place, I will NEVER set foot on this dump again, and you'd be wise to avoid it also. Plenty of other good options near here, all better than this.
