A Little Gem
What a treat. I live almost an hour and a half away. It was worth the trip. The greens were the fastest I've played all year and were in excellent condition. They were so much fun to putt on because of the crazy undulations. Friendly staff. Nice little bar. I'll be back.
Nice Round?
First off, the course refused to honor my reservation because the Pro Shop attendant claimed they do not do any business with on-line golf sites. She was very nice about it and let me play anyway. I did not have the reservation with me. The course was VERY wet early in the morning which made for some awkward shots and the fairways were not great. The greens however were AMAZING! Perfectly kept, fast-paced and uniquely contoured. And there are areas of the course that are beautiful. No water on the course? Boo! People were super friendly, both players and staff
Walter Travis hidden gem with wild greens
When I found out Walter Travis designed this course and it was public, I could not get here fast enough. Once I was playing, I did not want my round to end. The greens are some of the wildest anywhere. The 10th is worth the price of admission alone. Course had great terrain, great greens and a great golf architect.
Great course hidden away
Well kept and challenging course. Played several times. Teed off at 8:30am and done by 11. Usually pace of play isn't that quick but it always keeps moving. Staff is terrific and the restaurant on site is very good. Great views from almost all holes
Great Course with views - Great Staff!!!
Course was somewhat challenging and fun to play. They have a little hamburger stand on the 6th hole that adds to the beauty of this course. The staff was above and beyond accommodating. We had drinks after and the barmaid suggested a wonderful restaurant in Stamford, just down the road because the course kitchen had closed. Great place, called Gabriella's Restaurant. Food was great. I think the same people run the kitchen at the course.
Pretty solid course
This course was pretty good. Te ground was rock hard so chipping around the greens were impossible but can't blame the course for not having enough rain. This course would be a great deal for 40 or less. My favorite part course was pace of play. We played under 3 hours which is amazing especially for a weekend
Worth our time
My fiancée and I played the course on our way to Albany from Binghamton. We were a little late for our tee time, due to traffic, but called the course to let them know and received a pleasant "no problem" from the young lady at the pro shop. We got off about 20 minutes late and ran into a foursome on the first tee, which turned out to be the VP of the club. He graciously let us play through and we had a brief discussion about the course layout and conditions. Then we were off. The course is quite hilly and has a lot of undulation (which I like). The scenery all around is beautiful. The course plays longer than the stated yardage, in my opinion, due to the elevation. The greens were in good shape and played a little slow, which was good because they were full of undulations and holding them would have been otherwise difficult. The fairways had some grub damage but were recovering and not bare. The course does not come back to the clubhouse on the 9th hole, but there was a snack shack on the 6th hole and a roving beverage cart. Prices were quite reasonable too. We were going to stay for a sandwich after the round but the kitchen closes early so we weren't able to rate the food. Overall a nice experience, especially with the Golfnow hot rate.
Great tricky greens
course was nice greena are tricky. disapointed that i paid more, counting fee than i would have paid at the course.
pleasant day at Stamford golf club
course conditions were excellent and greens great.
Nicely Conditioned
Played a Sunday mid-afternoon round of 18 holes with a foursome and carts. The course was in good condition with nice, consistent greens. Staff welcomed us with a thank you for playing. Played here sparingly in the past due to the lengthy ride but with the special of $25 we will certainly return in the future..........
Had a great time at Stamford GC
For Fall time golf, This course is in very good condition. Greens were in great shape. Definitely challenging with a few small shooter greens, a few average and the rest were big greens. Fairways were good and rough was short. It was a real treat to play for 15.00 on the deal of the day. I Played 18holes in 2h 15min by myself. The restaurant had a homemade navy bean soup that was good and the help were friendly. I will definitely make the 45min trek many more times to play. Thank You
very nice - back 9 more interesting
Nice course - great pace of play. The back 9 has some excellent holes
