only none holes open since hurricane Helene
was in Asheville for vacation, thought I'd get out on a Donald Ross original. The entire front nine was destroyed due to Helene. I played the back nine twice, worked out fine. Staff was good. COnditions on the back nine are okay. It is still early for the fairways to green up and grow from a long winter. It looks like they are actively out there working to get it in shape for the season.
NOT BAD
Course is in good shape. Only complaint is they didn't roll the greens and they were wet and hard to putt on till the last 2 holes.
Brutal pace of play :(
Love this course but they have to space out their tee times better. Too often it will take roughly 20 minutes per hole on the front nine, I understand the course wants to keep the course full but being forced to wait over half your round isn’t fun for anyone
Great local course
The money that they put into this course and the work has really shown. So much better than it was several years ago and getting better all the time.
Not bad for a Municipal course
They had aerated the course not too long ago and there were plugs everywhere. A few new tee boxes but a few were in desperate need for reworking. It’s a typical municipal course. It’s about the same price point as the other courses in the area
Looking Great
Course is looking and playing great. They need to get out some Marshall’s to keep people playing at a reasonable pace of play.
New management doing a great job
Course is a lot nicer now. More pricey, but still the cheapest around. I'm a fan.
Much improved
Fun course to play and the condition of the course has gone from 1 star to 4 stars.
Great Round. Got a great rate on golfnow. Had to pay $12 for a rider. Course in good shape. Friendly staff, no hassles.
Positive ratings must be based on Asheville finally making some effort. Still in bad shape. That's understandable given the work being done. But charging anything more than 25$ to play here is robbery.
The greens here are the bright spot. The fairways are hit or miss. the rough is mostly weeds. I enjoy this course and have played it several times mainly because of location. Overall, it is too expensive for what it is. Not bad overall though
Stat away
I'm not a great golfer, but I do like to enjoy my round.
Asheville doesn't allow that. If you were a foot off the fairway your ball is lost in the jungle rough. Spent most of my time looking for balls instead of trying to play.
Ranger said to pick up the pace. Hard to do on cart path only .
GO PLAY MUNI!
As a former employee of Muni and regular at Muni for years, the last time I played the course in 2021 it was in horrendous shape. Fast forward 3 years and Muni is in GREAT shape. The work they have done to it makes it the best value in town. The fairways are in good shape. The greens are in good shape. There was 1 tee box that was iffy, but even it was solid. I will pay 46 dollars on a Saturday morning to play Muni anytime. The reviews that say this place isn’t in good shape are not being honest. The rough can get rough (thinking of #13 specifically) but if you keep it in the fairway or the first cut you have nothing to worry about. GO PLAY MUNI!
Great Changes
Was just a great day and the golf course was the star. We hadn’t played Muni in a couple years and what a difference. New sand in traps grass on all the fairways, tee boxes good and the greens were super. This is the first place I ever played golf some 60 years ago and I’m grateful they are bringing it back. Will be back soon.
