Great value, nice operation
Well run muni course. Staff is well organized and professional. Always a pleasant experience. Layout is fine, though the short doglegs keep drivers in the bag a lot. Greens are forgiving. Approach shots hit and stuck. Just two items on my wish list: (1) Areas in front of greens often are soaked from watering; you can't run or bounce a shot onto greens even when they're designed for that play. (2) Sand traps lack sand. Just dirt. That hurts the course -- and a fair score.
Most public courses, including this one, should fill in half their bunkers. The rolling slopes will be a better challenge and easier to maintain.
Shocked
Champions course was in great shape two weeks ago when I played it. However, tonight the driving range attendant and pro shop attendant not so much. Showed up at 5:30 to hit balls and was told I could only purchase a medium bag (60 balls) due to the range closing at 7. Regardless that I can hit three bags by 7:00 the man wouldn’t sell me a large bag. When I left at 5:56 there were still people arriving and buying balls. The man in the pro shop was a joke as well. Unfortunately as nice as the course is I will not be contributing anymore to this facility.
Excellent Value
The Players Course at Bryan Park is an excellent value. And the layout is solid. It is challenging without being brutal. And the conditions are really good. Greens were firm, smooth, and quick. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. The rough was very thick. The only negative is the bunkers were wet and had not been raked. The course is a good mix of holes. Long, short, dogleg left, dogleg right. With a few pretty challenging holes and shots. We had the first tee time of the day. And played in about 3 hours. All in all an excellent value for what you pay and what you get.
Great layout
Got out to play the Players Course at Bryan Park again this week, and it is a GREAT course! While the Champions is also a great course, the Players is well, much more playable! The course was in great shape from tee to green except the bunkers which were wet, packed, and some had water in them. Had to take them out of play. Other than that EXCELLENT conditions. The bent grass greens were a slow with it being summer time and them trying not to get them beat up. They were soft but rolled really smoothly. The course is a great design and really fun. Several doglegs, and a few blind shots. It seemed like the long par 4 holes were straight but the shorter par 4s were all doglegs, which made you do something other than just hit driver off the tee. Get out and play either of the courses at Bryan Park, you wont regret it!
Nice Place
Awesome views with excellent greens, fairways and tee boxes. A must play.
Great Course
Played The Champions Course at Bryan Park yesterday. It is a great course! We played late in the afternoon and got the twilight rate of $39 and I thought this was one of the best deals on golf I have ever gotten. The course was in good shape except the bunkers. And it has poured in the area the last two days prior so not going to hold it against them. The greens were firm and very quick. The fairways were in good shape. The bermuda rough was very thick. The back nine has several hole along the lake with beautiful views. There are also several forced carries on the course. Either over a lake or a ravine. It’s actually a really challenging course but I was hitting it really well yesterday. I highly recommend a round here if you are in the area. You won’t be disappointed
Champions Course delivers
The Champions course at Bryan Park always delivers.. The views of Lake Townsend are spectacular.. 3 of the 4 par 3's have the lake come into play.. The course has a good mix of left to right and right to left holes..
Overall, the course is in great shape ! The greens were firm and quick ! The fairways and rough need a couple more weeks to completely fill in..
High recommend this course !!
Nice Course & Facilities
Had an early tee-time. Beautiful weather. Was pleasantly surprised when checking in that the price for the Players course was only $38. per player. Initially when booking was told a much higher price. Cannot beat this course for this price. Staff is friendly and helpful. As for the course itself - It is not as challenging as some other reviews note. Was cart path only on this day due to rain the day prior. Fairways are in excellent condition. Greens a bit spotty due to divot marks that had been repaired but browned. Greens rolled true though. Course markings are not all that great so if you don't have a phone app or something to show each hole individually you can find yourself in trouble. There are very few holes where you can see the flag/green from the tee box. And I've never seen a course with more holes that have some sort of dogleg left or right. About every hole seems to be a dogleg hole. Bunkers are in need of some work. Most had water in them & were barely playable I suppose due to the rain the day prior although there wasn't that much rain. Even the bunkers that were dry were rock hard. Seems they need more sand. Overall a nice course & I would definitely play it again and would recommend. Courses of this caliber are typically far more expensive.
GREAT COURSE BUT TERRIBLE CARTS!!!!
Bryan Park Champions Course is a beautiful golf course that will definitely test your golf skills. There are lot of things to love about Bryan Park. My only complaint is for the price you pay you would think they would have better golf carts (ours broke down only 4 holes in and we had to sit in the blazing heat waiting for them to bring us another one) They do not have GPS on them like some of the lower priced courses in the area do. Again the golf course itself is by far a gem, its just a little disappointing to pay that much for a round of golf and get a basic golf cart like the ones used at cheap courses and no GPS!!! I will still continue to play there because its hard to find a golf course this nice and challenging but it would be nice to have better carts with GPS and better padded seats for the price you pay!!!!
Wow - What a great course!
Got there early in the morning and were the first group out for the day. They had received a couple inches of rain the night before and were cartpath only.
Got the senior rate. The staff was very friendly.
The course is stunning. It was in great condition. On a great piece of land. I would play again in a minute.
Perfect
There isn't much to say about this course besides perfect.
Play the Champions course in Championship condition
I have played the champions course many times and never a bad round. The course is always in great condition and this time was no exception. The tee boxes, fairways and greens are excellent. Running a little slow maybe 8-9. Bunkers are consistent in depth and feel. Greens are firm and but will hold and are consistent as well. Overall I love playing this course as it challenges every part of my game.
Fast Greens
Bryan Park is a solid golf course all the way around. The Champion Bermuda greens are very fast. Have to be cautious on the greens because they're very fast. It's also a pretty difficult driving course. That said, the rough wasn't too long. Overall, it's quite challenging mostly because the greens are so firm and fast.
Very nice park course
I enjoyed the course. The greens were in excellent condition and the ball rolled true. It's nice when you get the ball on line, the ball has an actual chance of falling in the hole. A few tee boxes were in need of a good level, but they were few.
My only complaint of the course is the lack of a quality system of viewing of the hole for someone who doesn't know where to land their tee shots. A couple of the holes are blind from the tee and the small pics on the card is completely inefficient. On hole #15, there isn't signage on the tee warning you that you can drive it into the first instance of water if you are of moderate length. Use a fairway metal or iron!
Amazing every time
I have gone to visit a friend who moved to NC every year for about 4 years around Easter time. We have played Bryan Park each time I have visited, sometimes each course per visit, as well. I like the players but the champions is amazing. The conditions are always great and the layout is fun and scenic. I cannot say enough about the course and the price is amazing. I come from New York and have yet to find a course anywhere near as nice for less than 100 a round. I love coming and playing here.
Wow...Course is in GREAT shape!
We decided to tee it up at Bryan Park Sunday morning, before heading over to Sedgefield to watch the final round of the Wyndham. Understanding that they had recently reopened due to recovering from winter kill in the fairways, we didn't know what to expect. Well, WOW!! The course is in unbelievably great shape, with plush fairways (cart path only, which is understandable, and totally fine) and greens that are in great shape, and rolling true and fast. After walking around Sedgefield, it felt like we played a championship course in the morning, as the conditions at Bryan Park were spectacular...we'll be making the trip from Raleigh back to Bryan Park again soon.
Challenging Golf Course
A very challenging golf course. Played with some 10-15 handicappers and the course was very difficult for all of us. It is the Champions Course but may need to add some forward tees. Greens fast and a lot of undulation. Course was packed in in good shape as I played just prior to Bermuda turning green. The Players Course may be a better fit for the 10 plus handicapper.. Only a poor to fair experience in the clubhouse..
Must play
If you are in this part of the world - this is a must play. Back nine is challenging but fair and the vistas are unbelievable.
Good fun on both courses
I saw that review that hated the greens. I played both courses and the Players (the cheaper one) had been aerated a week earlier and still rolled okay. The Champions Course - and this is in late March after several icy winter storms, offered the best greens I ever played.
There is no way to describe the TRUE roll of putts on these greens.
But too many bunkers! I get it course designer. Forget about bump and run. Two, three and more greenside bunkers?
I will not play either course again. One time? Absolutely
Incredible Site for a Golf Course!
Bryan Park might be the best public golf course in the country - 36 holes with no houses and build around a large lake. Spectacular!!!
