Lochmere Golf Club

About
Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

Poor Condition
Greens were recently top dressed but in good shape. Tee boxes were absolutely barren. Almost like hitting out of a waste area on every tee shot. Needs a lot of work.
Good for the price and location
Not bad overall. Greens were in great shape and the amenities overall are decent. The track itself is very wet. There is a lot of water overall, but there was standing water everywhere - ponds and streams that are not really meant to be there. For early spring though, not bad - especially for the price.
Great Winter Golf Day
Greens are in great condition. Ground crews work hard to keep greens in this great condition by covering when temps require it. Traps in great shape also. Pace of play was very good today.
Great shape for late December
After rain the day before and no sun today, I expected the course to be pretty soupy, but it was all surprisingly firm, and the greens were in great shape. Too bad my game wasn't in as great of shape.
Pleasantly surprised
I was in town for a short trip and decided to give this course a try. It was a cool, damp, cloudy day in December, but I was pleasantly surprised with the condition of the course and the overall experience. I played the blue tees and overall the par 4’s were relatively short (340-350) but the course layout was good and the greens were in fantastic shape. It was cart path only which was understandable but still got done in 4 hours . Dormant grass took a while to get used to. The price was right and I will look to see what the course plays like in Spring, Summer or Fall when I’m back in town.
Pleasantly surprised
Played today for first time just looking for a decent course to play while visiting in Raleigh with my wife.. To play in December on a cloudy day after fairly heavy rain whereas we had to do cart path only, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and condition of the fairways, rough and especially the greens (rolled true and no burn out spots). Not a long course as I played from Blue tees and most Par 4’s were in 340-350 range. Par 5’s are gettable but the layout was pretty good for a public course where the price was right. My wife played Red tees and they were really short holes. I want to play it in the spring , summer or fall to see if it’s in even better condition. I play over 150 rounds a year and this course isn’t a 5 star, but for the money, I had to give it 4 stars overall.
