About
As a young man, Perry worked for his father on such iconic courses as Crooked Stick in Indiana, The Golf Club in Ohio and Teeth of the Dog in the Dominican Republic
Stateside, notable courses of his include Plum Creek Golf & Country Club, Riverdale Dunes Golf Club and Glenmoor Country Club, all located in Colorado, which he called home for much of his adult life. He also collaborated with his father on Pound Ridge Golf Club an hour north of New York City, and Royal Hawaiian Golf Club.
Perry Dye: selected golf course designs
Like his brother and parents, Perry Dye's golf courses have a distinctive look: abrupt, expressive mounding; deep, flat-bottomed bunkers and a strong sense of intrigue and a penchant for psychological as well as physical golfing challenge. In his career he excelled at bringing these design elements abroad to places like Japan (Golden Lakes Country Club), Turkey (LykiaLinks) and Korea (Woo Jeong Hills Country Club).
Dye also brought a strong work ethic and a commitment to spending weeks and months on-site at a time, personally overseeing the construction of golf courses, rather than drawing up plans and turning them over to a contractor. Thus, he (like his parents and their many design disciples) was in the vanguard of the contemporary "design-build" paradigm that prominent current architects use to great effect.
