Editor's choice: Best reviews on Golf Advisor for the week of Dec. 15

At Golf Advisor, we receive well over a thousand reviews each week from golfers all over the world. I've scanned them to find a handful of the best.

First off, there's news in the Orlando golf scene. Earlier this year, Disney's Osprey Ridge Golf Club, a Tom Fazio design that opened in the early 1990s, reopened as part of the brand new Four Seasons Resort Orlando and is now named Tranquilo Golf Club at Four Seasons Resort Orlando. User docrog47, a mid-handicapper from Hilton Head, had this to say:

"We had played Osprey Ridge several times in the past and looked forward to playing Tranquilo," he wrote. "The course layout has been slightly changed because of the building of the new Four Seasons hotel, together with a few (non-distracting) high-end homes that can be seen from several holes. Other than the new par-3 18th hole, the course plays as beautifully as ever. The staff was incredibly friendly throughout. The course was relatively empty because it has only recently reopened. A truly beautiful setting at Disney!"

docrog47 awarded the course "Excellent" ratings in most categories, including conditions and service.

Meanwhile, in Alabama, user Thomas1372719 played a most unique facility, FarmLinks at Pursell Farms. If you're not familiar with FarmLinks, it's not only a small stay-and-play resort with all sorts of activities but also a show room and laboratory for turf grass.

"The rumors of this place had me interested from the get go," he wrote. "What man wouldn't want to golf and hunt on the same day? To say this place is special is an understatement. Even their tee markers are pretty cool. They have cabins you can rent out, and it's perfect for a guys weekend retreat. I highly recommend giving FarmLinks a try. Be sure to check out the Man Cave (a FarmLinks golf package currently being promoted), it's a treat."

Lastly, one lucky golfer had the chance to play a couple rounds at exclusive Colleton River Plantation. Personally, the Dye Course there is one of my favorites by the legendary Pete Dye. Rater schweiz -- a 5-9 handicap from Columbia, S.C. -- got to play both courses and was particularly fond of the Nicklaus Course.

"It is well worth the time and effort to gain access to this exclusive and private club. Nicklaus used the beautiful and interesting terrain to create a masterpiece. Conditions were fantastic, the greens rolling a 12+ on the Stimpmeter and the weather being perfect made a most memorable experience. ... Playing in the latter part of the day makes the finishing holes absolutely spectacular. Don't get distracted by the setting sun and the marvel mother nature provides. Instead, focus on the task on hand: the next shot.

You will be using every club in the bag and bring back wonderful memories of this Nicklaus design.
