North Shore Country Club

About
North Shore Country Club sits along the Intracoastal Waterway, offering holes that play along the ocean as well as some that play inland weaving through coastal marshes and towering pines. The golf course blends seamlessly with the scenic surroundings. Strategically placed bunkers fiercely protect the greens and golfers should also be prepared for some tricky forced carries. The fairways are generous and forgiving though. The course is a fair test but it is especially tough on windy days. The interior, tree-lined holes contrast nicely with the waterfront holes and they have the added benefit of protection from the prevailing sea breezes. North Shore Country Club is a player-friendly layout that both beginners and seasoned players can enjoy, which is why it has become one of the Outer Banks' most popular golfing destinations.

DISAPPOINTING
Course continues to deteriorate. The holes are not cut properly instead of holes being flat around surface of holes they continue to be cut poorly with a ridge around holes. The traps are a disgrace with a poor grade of sand & in most cases it is like hitting out of mud. The cart paths continues to deteriorate & even driving slowly on them are terrible stress on the back.
The price continues to increase yearly but no reinvestment seems to be happening. This course because of the extremely challenging layout with tremendous potential with ownership commitment
Better than Expected
Played this course during a family vacation recently. I had played this course many times back in the late '80s and early '90s but not since.
This used to be a great track but after reading some recent reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect.
Check-in was quick. They paired us up with two other gentlemen who were of similar skill level and turned out to be a great pairing. Pace of play was fast and at times I almost felt rushed by the four male players behind us who were playing from the ladies' tees.
Bermuda Greens were outstanding; Firm and true. Fairways were in great shape also. Bunkers were adequate but could use some sand. My only real complaint is that the cart paths were terrible. I can live with that though if the course is in good shape. And it was.
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING !
This course is publicized as a Golf Digest Four Star Rated Course. It may have been at one time but when our group played in July we were very disappointed & definitely felt it was significantly overpriced at $87. The sand traps were worse than many municipal courses & my back was a mess from the horrible cart paths. Our foursome was very disappointed!
We recently got together & realized no one had sent in a much deserved review
Short Drive
Closest course to North Topsail. Course was in fantastic shape. All staff were very friendly. Highly recommended.
Best in the area
I was very pleased with this course even though the weather was poor. Had to play in an off and on misty rain which didn’t allow to fully enjoy the entire experience but it’s an excellent course.
The only downside is the price. It’s a pretty steep price tag which borders on unreasonable.
I’ve played nicer courses for less but I still recommend giving it a go if you’re in the area.
Sad to say
I have had the pleasure to play this course many times when it opened. It was one of the best courses I have played. I have bragged about this course many times. But will not now. I have player golf in many places. From Pinehurst to Torrey Pines and Pete Dye Golf trail , Hilton Head, from USA, Mexico,, Brazil, England, Sweden. I have been very fortunate and visited many other golf courses.
I returned to the Jacksonville NC to see family and returned to North Shore after bragging to out of town family. What a let down !!!
The staff was super but the course lacked the value. Cart paths are poor at best and course was not in good condition. If this course is getting plenty of play then the money is not going back into the course. This happened to Greensboro National and now with new ownership it has step up. Very nice track. But. It appears to be a tourist trap and a great location is turning into a mess.
This was a fun course to play!
We actually played the course 3 times. Walked once and rode a cart twice only because they will not allow walking before 3 PM. Bummer!!
I found the course a fun course that requires driving accuracy to score well but the fairways are wide enough to allow higher handicap player to play without loosing too many balls. Ponds and salt marshes are on many holes and they seem to have a lot of ditches 30 yards before a green!
Price is a little steep but the course was nice.
Only one hole seems ridiculous! #18 is a killer!
Nice course
Nice course and condit ions. Little expensive compared to other courses, but the nicest in the area.
Too expensive!
Course is in great condition, except for the 18th green. Even though the course is in great condition I have played better for less money. For $72 I would expect a bottle of water or wet towel in the cart. I am sure it is priced so high to take advantage of vacationers which kind of screws the locals. They don't offer military discount for active duty dependents. If you're looking for a nice challenging course in the area check out Castle Bay or bear trail for $30 less.
a great experience
extremely friendly staff, very accommodating, excellent coarse, i would highly recommend this to any player, its the best coarse in eastern north carolina
Very challenging for a mediocre player
Great course and the price was incredible on golf now. The only thing that slowed down the pace was a rainstorm that lasted 7 of the first 9 holes.
I loved this course
I really enjoyed this course. However, Eric was rude. We tried to replay 9 holes after we finished 18 holes. We were told that 9 more holes would cost $30.00 dollars. We had only paid $ 27.00 dollars for 18 holes on GolfNow .com.We indicated that the website said it would only cost $25.00 for a replay of 9 holes. We were very disappointed with Eric. I would not recommend this course for anyone who would like to play more than 18 holes.
Regards,
John
Great Beach course!
A very classy and challenging 18 holes with great views along the North Carolina waterway.
This course has great views of coastal areas. Great value and fun to play.
Tee boxes, greens, and fairways were in very good shape. The staff were all very nice. One thing that made the course a little aggravating was locating your ball just in the first cut of rough. The grass was a little high so finding your ball only a few feet out of fairway was sometimes difficult. Again the fairways were in excellent shape and plenty wide so we really should not be in the rough! Overall great value and very good course.
Great course... Only negative is the 18'th hole when playing into the wind is nearly too tough for the average golfer..
Great tee boxes, fairways, and greens.. Wonderful with the Golfnow savings.
A must play course!
This course is in really GR8 shape! It is a challenging and scenic course! The fairways are plush and the greens are fast. I will be playing this course again!
Fun Course
Good course for the money paid. Course has a unique layout with plenty of risk=reward holes. Lots of water and a few house so "hit them straight"...
Nice layout, very nice course
Well maintained course. Nice practice facility. Good deal for the money.
Great Course Great Scenery
Can't beat North Shore for the money go during a weekday nobody lives near the golf course except on weekends (tourists) and hardly any houses on the course.
