Hoping for improvements
First, the greens are bermuda, not bent grass. Most of the info and reviews here were posted years ago. I've always wanted to like this course, and I still do, And I'm rooting for the conditions to improve, the grass to thicken, greens to hold, the bunkers to show more sand. Right now, when I play it, I get frustrated. The greens are hard and slippery. You don't even need a repair tool. To say they "roll well" misses the point. Pin placements, last few times I've played, have been ridiculous given the friction-free nature of the greens. I hope hotter weather might help.
A Must Play
This course is in great shape! The greens rolled fast and smooth. If you have not played here I cannot recommend it enough.
This course has a very hap-hazard latyout which makes for several awkward holes. The course was in good condition and the greens rolled pretty consistent. However, for the price one can do better in the area.
Greens are in great shape!
It has been a few years since I have played at Stoney Creek and it is in great shape. The greens are smooth and very quick. For a Monday they did have ver difficult pin placements especially for some of the more inexperienced golfers in my group but still a lot of fun to play.
Wonderful Golf Experience!
Stoney Creek is worthy of its Top 100 rating in NC. Conditions were perfect and the greens were very fast. The staff made us feel right at home and we were treated to a private club experience all day. Priced on the high side for the market but DEFINITELY worth every penny.
