Fun Course to Play
Played this course in December for the first time in a while. My parents were members here when I was in high school, so I played quite a bit. It's not an exaggeration to say I've played this course over a thousand times. Yes, the course has difficulty after a rain because the soil is very dense and the property is dead flat, so the water has nowhere to go. The holes are all generally fun, they have made some changes over the years to make the course more user-friendly, mostly filling in ponds. Of course, filling them in did not help the drainage issue. For me, this is the best course around for beach tourists in Western Carteret County, far superior to others in the immediate area.
Good layout!
Course was in good condition for this time of year. While it is true the cart paths are terrible, I do not play golf on the cart path. Fairways were good with plenty of grass to hit off of, and the greens rolled well. Everything is Bermuda and spring has been llate, but course conditions were much better than a higher rated course I played yesterday.
Great layout - but needs attention
Love the layout. The course dose not drain well so it can be wet. The cart paths are in dire need of attention. Staff was very friendly - I'll be back...
