My Very nice and way cool playing buddie Craig from ohio Photo submitted by DavidLaDuke on 07/22/2015
Best public course in Toledo Area
By far best public course in Toledo area. Nicely managed. Great food. Pace of play can be slow at times due to regulars not allowing faster players to pass ahead.
Confused staff
Nice course but not worth the money. Some of the staff say you can play 9 and some say 18.
Gem of a course in NW Ohio
Everything about my experience here yesterday exceeded my expectations. Course, condition, management, hospitality and and food were excellent. Highly recommended.
Could use attention to detail
I feel like the course is lacking the little things that would make a much better experience. Also the staff was a bit rude.
Played this course as part of a golf trip to/around the Cleveland area in late May 2023. This course was included on our itinerary based on its listing as a Top Course by Golf Advisor.
PACE: Played on a Saturday afternoon and the pace was slow. We finished in just under 5 hours. There were 3 groups waiting on #10 tee, and a started that just kept repeating "I don’t know what’s going on.”
CONDITIONS: Tees had lots of divots and were crowning towards the edges. Some bare areas in the fairways/rough. Greens were okay, and looked they had been painted or received some sort of treatment. They did run fast, but not very true (repair your ball marks!). The sand in the bunkers was okay (thin and whispy, if I recall correctly).
STAFF: Got us paid and out on the course.
VALUE: Felt a bit overpriced given the conditions. My 2nd received the senior rate, which seemed more fair.
LAYOUT: Played the White tees (6,000). This is a housing sub-division course. Well placed bunkers and water hazards keep you honest, and wide fairways make the course manageable. The par 3s are entertaining (#16 is kind of like a volcano hole); and the par 5s provide a good challenge. The variety of par 4s allowed me to use all the clubs in my bag. We didn’t walk the course, but there were more than a few walkers out on the course.
Small and Tricky
The fairways are generous and the greens are small and tricky with moguls and traps surrounding them. If u make a par you earned it.
Stone Ridge Golf Course
We're from the Detroit area but we make the trek to Bowling Green,, OH a couple times a year to play this course. It is an Arthur Hills design and is tough yet very playable. Greens were in excellent shape despite it being early October. Every hole is unique and you don't have to worry about errant shots from other fairways hitting you.
Best of the year
Most enjoyable round of the year. Course in excellent shape - immaculate greens. Rough was very unforgiving. Nate in pro shop was welcoming & full of useful info for first-time visitor like me.
