Wet and windy playing long

Course overall in pretty good shape. People who work here are nice enough. The only thing I found a bit annoying is the number of “those guys” hitting from the tips. Course is all you want from the white tees fellas. Group in front of us all hit 2 balls off the first tee-from the blues.

Better than expected!

After reading reviews I was expecting the worse but pleasantly surprised at how nice the course was. Loved the course layout and the staff was very friendly. Will definitely play again in the spring!

Not quality

Course is adequate at best. Overpriced for the experience. I expect more from a metropark course. Course feels the same as it was 20 years ago when it was under poor maintenance. Just want your money

Back 9 are bad

Tee boxes and fairways were patchy at best. Had to hammer in my tee. I saw 2 sand traps. Fairways had such terrible bumps in them (intentional drainage ruts) that it took out a kidney when riding in a cart! The staff was great, bathrooms gross. The Metropark owns this and usually does a much better job! I won't be playing this 9 again.

The Back of A

Back in the 40's when the course was built, the Front 9 or Front A course was what this course had been designated for many years. This particular 9 seen thee likes of Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and other Pros at that time competing in various tournaments like The Carling Open for one. There used to be foundation stones keeping a small shack up from the ground at one time, where you would buy your round. This 9 is now designated as "Back A". In my youth and throughout my time as a starter there, the back of A was with the B course nines. The back of A was feared as there were many long par 4 holes along with the behemoth 17th hole, a 608yd Par 5. The course finished with a 203 par 3 over water.
We played the renamed Back A. Overall the layout of the course stayed the same, but trees and hazards have come and gone. Many of the trees I remember are very tall now, or other course landmarks are totally gone. It's been about 5 years since I last attended mind you, a lot can change.
Metroparks likes a lot of native areas, so the old "cut through to the next tee" didn't exist anymore and many more unintentional balls were lost because of these natural areas. At one time it was all mowed, thusly giving the course a more tailored look. This is just my opinion as the course was in otherwise, fabulous shape. Greens were good, but not challenging fast, so I was able to attack the holes more readily. Seneca had the "August roll" already and brought back some great memories from 30 years ago when we would play forever. All this coming to mind while trying to catch my son as I was down a stroke or two, lol. Any of the nines at Seneca will test your driving and use of fairway wood-hybrid approach shots being quite common. Prepare to get your monies worth. Bring balls. Have fun.

Starter

The golf experience was good except for the starter on staff. When we arrived he told us we were playing Baldwin and Chippewa. We proceeded to tee off from Baldwin he did not say a word. He teed off left and told us to have a good round. Came back to make the turn and he said how was your rounds we said good, we are grabbing a bite and we are a out to play Chippewa. He said where are you going. I said to grab something to eat and we are about to make the turn to Chippewa. He said why are you doing that? I said because you told us to. He proceeded to wave me over like I was a child and I get it since I was with a few recent graduates. Still we made the turn but he reaction and disrespect was unnecessary

Surprisingly well maintained & fun

The fairways were well cut and the greens were in amazing good shape.
I golf in CA and was visiting … I was impressed.
I’m sure if it hadn’t rained during the first 7 holes, our balls would have traveled much further and our scores would have been lower.
