Meadowbrook at Clayton

About
Opened in 1924, Meadowbrook at Clayton (previously known as Meadowbrook Country Club) in Clayton is one of the oldest golf courses in the area. The course has a traditional layout that has remained popular amongst locals throughout the years. Like most courses built during that time, it is on the shorter side at 6,663 yards, but it has an adequate amount of challenges nonetheless. The layout features rolling, tree-lined fairways and menacing greens framed by treacherous bunkers. Alex "Nipper" Campbell, the course's designer who is no stranger to Dayton area golf, designed the course with playability in mind. It is a fair test but it is also player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels. In addition to the golf course, Meadowbrook at Clayton also offers golfers well maintained practice putting greens and a driving range.

GREAT course
Great price great course great weather. Golfnow great app
grate cours
grate course, friendly staff would recommend to any one.
Taken good care of.
Fairways and greens are is great shape. The course is well taken care of.
Play here before it...
Played on a Sunday and got a good HOT deal on Golf now. This was my second time playing this course.
This course is so different than most in the Dayton area. Mature trees that hug the fairway. Pretty challenging. Also the sand traps are the pretty good. No rocks, all sand and raked well. That is the good part. This course needs to stay open.
Here is what they need work on...
The Pro shop is non existant. No golf balls to buy, Nothing at all but range balls that are in a large container and sit on the floor looking pretty bad.
I understand that the City of Clayton now owns this but they have seem to do nothing but put people in there to "man" the stations. The guy in the proshop was very nice and friendly but the Snack bar is pathetic! The guy in there was not friendly at all. He definitely doesn't understand customer service. He had no idea how to put a hotdog together. I'm sure he was never trained at all. They hardly had anything that was on the menu board. Only dogs and hamburgers that were grilled 2 hours before.
If your looking for golf, go play Meadowbrook. Don't look for much else. There are a lot of tee boxes and frindge's that are looking bad. The course overall is in decent shape but I'm afraid like most courses in this area, they will wither away and die.
Meadowbrook's facility needs money pumped into it, BAD! The city of Clayton now owns this and they need to take a chapter from Vandalia's playbook and look at Cassell Hills. CH is green and lush and the Staff is friendly.
Good golf course right now. Time will tell if the City will really get someone to run it the right way and put money into it to update the place and take care of golf course issues.
Great course
Great course for the money. Will definitely play there again. Greens are in great shape .
Fantastic layout
This course is great! You need to be a fairly straight hitter or you'll deal with the trees like I did. It's very scenic, fantastic greens. Usually very quick, but with all the rain recently, they really hold a shot to the green. I forgot what a great course this is. I'll play again soon!
Can't wait to play here again
You've read the other reviews about the old Country Club charm of this course so I will save you the time. You really need to play here, you won't be sorry. Nothing more boring than a flat lifeless golf course--this place is cut along rolling hills and several tee boxes are elevated as well as several greens. Very challenging for any skill level and for $19 on Golfnow it was a win win. Playing here places importance of hitting the fairways as the rough is definitely on the long side. Thought I was playing in the U.S. Open on a couple of errant drives. Some bunkers could use a bit more sand but I sure have seen ALOT worse around Dayton as of late.
Country Club at Public course price
Booked a foursome on 6/6/15 . Great old style course cut through the trees with elevated greens that have lots of slope on them. Make sure you hit the ball to the right spot on the greens. Course was in nice shape other than a lack of much sand in the bunkers. The staff said they were waiting on it to be delivered. Staff was extremely friendly and even got us off a little early. Better short than long on every hole. Nice course at at great value.
Nice course
Nice course in good condition. Calls on players to use a variety of shots. Several of the par 4s don't require driver.
Great value - classic course with country club conditions
You must try this course. It's a classic, one of the oldest in Dayton. Just opened to the public this year. It's actually in great shape still - being run by the city of Clayton now. The terrain is very beautiful, with large trees flanking both sides of the narrow fairways. The greens are small and undulating. The bunkers could use some more sand. But really beautiful and a classic setup. You get the feel of playing at a country club of the past - the one your parents belonged to in the 60s. It's really a blast from the past. Reasonable rates and super fast play.
A Classic Gem from the Golden Age
A must play for those from SW Ohio. A course from the golden age of course design (Alec "Nipper" Campbell, who designed Moraine CC). Built on rolling terrain with Greens carved naturally into it, without the aid of Bulldozers and modern equipment.
This course was private in 2014, donated to the City of Clayton. I believe it is almost as good as the best courses in Dayton, certainly among the best public. Play it ASAP. Our two some played in 3.5 hours, as there wasn't much play on Friday.
Water is really only in play on #17, but small, undulating greens, and narrow, contoured fairways are challenging.
A must play if you live in Dayton
Meadowbrook Country Club is one of the oldest courses in the Dayton area, so when it became public I jumped all over playing it for $20 on Golf Now. The course was in great shape, with greens like a PGA major. I would definitely play here again. The only negative think I can say about the course is that the sand bunkers were in a terrible shape, but overall this course is a must play if you live in the Dayton area.
Very nice
Looks like city of Clayton is making effort to keep course in good shape. Traps were raked and hopefully more sand will be added soon.
Great Value
Well kept , challenging for all skill levels. I would make the trip again. Trees line both sides of fairways on most holes. Elevation changes on several holes.
Meadowbrook
Nice course. Super fast greens. Tree lined fairways.
Great Course
If you want to play a course that is in excellent condition year around, great pace of play and challenging greens this is a must.
meadowbrook
A great layout with some very challenging holes. Well worth the drive. Will play it again.
one of the best in dayton
This is a gem. Private until recently the course is challenging and always in great condition
Classy Old Course
Meadowbrook Country Club has been around for 90 years and if you have never played there, treat yourself to some enjoyable golf. It is in great condition with generous gently rolling fairways and greens. It is somewhat long (6402 yards, white with a 71.7/131 course rating). Long hitters can probably reach the par 5, 17th hole in two but beware of water on your approach shot. This club definitely treats its guests right. Where else can you play in the area that provides you with towels on the cart?
