Craig Wood Golf & Country Club

About
The 1926 Seymour Dunn design at Craig Wood is full of quirky, entertaining holes, like the eight, with its tree in the middle of the fairway. The par-3 13th has a straight canyon drop to a tiny green and perplexes USGA handicap raters year after year. The mountain scenery is spectacular, and the grounds crew's loving care keeps the course in much better condition than you'd expect.

Great Course
First time playing here in 10 years and it's even better than it was back then. Used to play it every summer during a short vacation and I don't remember the greens being as good as they are now or as challenging. They're quick and true with lots of slope. You have to be below the hole to score. Course is a fun layout -- wide open on the front and tighter on the back with some tree lined holes.
If you're in the Lake Placid area, this is a must play. If I was a local, I'd play it every day if I could.
Great layout
This course isn't in great condition, most of the fairways are dry and yellow. The greens are nice and the layout is very fun.
great layout and challenging greens
One of my top 5 courses to play in my 61 years. Old time layout good for walkers.
very accomdating
Northern hospitality. The staff is really nice and they have made significant improvement to the clubhouse and parking facility. The fairways are close to summer rule and most of the greens were very good. Greens difficult to judge.
Fun course
Only drawback is that 2 greens are spotty. But many up here are bad. Best course for the money without a doubt.
Adirondack jem
Loved this course.Front nine is wide open and fairly. Easy while the back nine is narrow. and much more of a challenge.
Very scenic but it must have been a rough winter
A very nice layout but the conditions were poor on some holes. A few greens need to be closed due to large dead spots. Played from the tips and found the course fairly easy, mostly wide open. In early June the back 9 had black flies that were atrocious. Would play again with a similar deal.
Great adirondack golf course!
I have been playing here with a group of friends for the last 7 years. It is a fun course and usually in great shape. They made a lot of changes to the club house and it looks great. If you are in Lake Placid and love to golf, this is a must play!
Great deal on a very nice course. Get there with this deal.
Used the mobile app and found this course to be available on hot deal. Played quick, very nice course with no waiting. People moved out of the way.
This was a very fun course
Thank you very much Larry and Dick. You guys are what makes this golf course such a pleasurable experience. I came here from California and met up with my dad and brother . We stayed at Cochrane's Cabins this year and about twenty five years ago. This was by far a very fun and moderate to challenging course. Thank you for making my experience the best while out here vacationing.
Average club course. Beautiful scenery.
This course is a situated in the High Peaks region. Craig Wood is surrounded by mountains in every direction. As a result, even the worse round is tempered by the eye-popping views. Craig Wood does need some work. The fairways are pretty bumpy. So even your best drive in the fairway may result in a lousy lie. The course competes against more pricey establishments in the area. There is significant value here if you are looking for a moderately priced course with great views and don't mind skimping on the trimmings. Clubhouse offers cordial service with the usual fare serve on an open-air outdoor balcony, if you wish. Did I mention the views?
