Challenging Course
This course is kept in very good condition. It plays pretty challenging if you don't hit the fairways because the rough is very thick. The greens are fast and EXTREMELY undulated. If you do not put the ball in the correct spot on the green, a three put is likely. The course layout is not challenging, but the rough, bunkers, and greens make it much harder. It is worth playing if you get the chance to play this private course.
Spectacular Course - Difficult Greens!
This course is a meticulously maintained classic Tillinghaust experience. The course is very manageable tee-to-green, but will challenge golfers of every level to score. The greens have significant undulations, placing a lot of emphasis on your approach shot and leaving the ball below the hole. The greens were in spectacular shape and the ball rolled true. The rough was awfully thick in spots, so it's important to keep the ball in the fairway off the tee, but many of the drives have wide landing areas (again, the course is protected up ahead, around the greens).
The staff was incredibly friendly. We were made to feel right at home in the mens locker room and offered pretty much anything we could need. The caddies were great, and everything about the day was awesome.
In geographical proximity to a number of world class courses (like Winged Foot), this course is often over-looked. It shouldn't be. It is up there with the best. I cant wait to go back.
