Decent course for the money paid.
Been a few years since I last played Melrose. For the value it's not a bad course, There were some beat up areas along the way, but it does appear that they are putting some money back into the course, lots of tree work being done. The greens were slow as molasses and far from the better public courses I've played. Will play again later in the season to see if it gets better. Not a bad course at all for beginner golfers.
Melrose
Melrose use to be one of my favorite local courses and now it's not. The greens we're worse then neshaminy and it seems they haven't done any maintenance to get ready for season.
Greens are atrocious
Played this course before and it was mid. Now it is actually terrible. If you hit the green, goodluck, that ball is bouncing 20 feet over like you just hit a cart path. Greens are worst I’ve ever seen, literally like a dead grass laying over a cinder block. Also they charged $62 which is highway robbery. Won’t be coming back until I hear they’ve fixed the greens. Not even fun.
Course in awful conditions
Played here a few times and the course is usually in good shape. Yesterday, however the course was atrocious. Never seen it in such bad shape,
We understand that their water pump is not working. You can already see the effect on the greens. The fairways and rough were will groomed.
Melrose
I would say the tee boxes were in pretty good shape. The fairways were in pretty good shape. but The greens were very hard need a little bit of work. But overall, it is an OK course.
Course conditions
It was only 30$ but the course is in such horrible condition. The greens were maybe the worst I've ever played on. It's a real shame, because the course was amazing back in the day and has just gone down hill so badly. All they have to do is spend some $$ and it could be so easily returned to a beautiful course.
You Get What You Pay For
While the club looks like it has seen better days, it is hard to find a better course in the area for the price. For a golfer in the 90’s-100’s, you will find it approachable and the conditions acceptable. If you hold yourself to a higher standard of golf, Melrose might not be for you.
Bad for Winter Golf
Really affordable and fun track to play deeper into the spring, summer and fall. Course was in brutal condition to start the season in end of March. Awful tee boxes, greens uncured, bumpy and not well taken care of. Very much hoping they’re looking to improve the course conditions and rapidly because currently I would not go back. Would have better luck chipping onto the parking lot than the greens currently.
Could use some help
Melrose doesn’t have the length but the angles off the tee and hills are enough. The greens need some help and the whole course is marked with parches of burnt grass
rathole
The decline of this course is stunning. I understand that there is new ownership , but this is nothing short of a rathole. I wouldn't play this course again if it was free.
