Manager Rude!!
We booked our tee time on line as no one answered the phone when we called at 6 pm the night before. Our tee time was 12:24 on Sunday the 4th of August. When we got there a tournament was in progress but we were told that we should be able to get out with no problem. After a 45 minute wait we finally teed off only to spend the next 2 1/2 hours playing 5 holes. There was no ranger and when after 20 minutes on the 6th hole we still weren’t able to tee off, we called the club house. When it was apparent the manager was not going to answer we left. Upon getting back to the club house and talking to the manager telling him it took us 2 1/2 hours for five holes he just shrugged his shoulders and said “haven’t you ever played in a tournament before?” The people in front of us were not part of the tournament. He was very rude and condescending and made us feel as though it was our fault. We did get our money back but I can absolutely guarantee we will never play Elk Valley again!! Such a disappointment!!
View
I always enjoy this course the views are spectacular and the elevation just keeps going up. It was quite wet and that is not unusual. Great country course!
Get what you pay for
This golf course really has gone downhill the last few years. I’m in a league here and the yearly fee’s are rather inexpensive. It’s an inexpensive course to play and relatively a nice layout. Their cart paths are similar to off road ATV trails and over the last five years have done nothing to resolve the issue. Tee-box’s look like cow pastures, fairways are brown by July, and the greens turn to concrete. But for the price you pay, you’d expect that.
Great Shape for This Time of Year
the course is in great shape for this time of year. It's a great challenge and a must play if visiting Erie. The only sore spot is the condition of the cart paths. Be prepared for a bumpy ride. Other than the cart paths, the course is a pleasure to play.
Nice course!
I was pleasantly surprised by Elk Valley. I booked online through Golf Now and got a great deal.
Overall course was in very good condition for a public course. First time playing here and the course was well marked and fun to play!
I look forward to playing here again soon!
Beautiful course
I was in town visitng parents and told my dad I wanted to play golf at as many courses as possible. This is one of the 18 hole courses he took me to.
Course weaved through the countryside beautifully, making for some very nice photos. Both wide open fairways and well taken care of greens made this an enjoyable course to play.
The one thing that "shocked me" was the absense of sand traps. Dad told me it was due to the difficulty to maintain through hard winters. And as I seem to be a sand trap attractor, I loved the fact that I could leave my sand wedge in the car.
Very Rock Hard and Dusty Paths
great value for late night golf as you can play for $14.00 at 6pm with a cart and you can't beat that. the course is very rock hard when it doesn't get rain as there is no irrigation on the fairways. The staff there is REALLY TOP NOTCH. I have run into a ranger or two is a bit rude. Carts are nice and only a few years old. (gas) I think they are dumping golf now though?? which is a shame.
Beautiful with all the colors of fall
Both gentlemen I dealt with were very welcoming and friendly. I felt right at home. I would definitely play at Elk Valley again!

Slow play can stunt the enjoyment of the course. Overall good experience for the price
Great course, great value, and scenic beauty.
Elk Valley is one of the best values and nicest courses nearby Erie, Pa. easily reached via Interstate 90 exiting at the Fairview exit.
The fairways and greens were just right the day I played 8/6/14. It is a scenic course with several holes rising gradually along the hillside. Number six, a par five is very scenic paralleling the forest, and sixteen a dogleg left par five entices those who want to try their high draw.
The staff is very pleasant and Tom Peterson a talented instructor who helped me.
When up from Florida visiting friends, Elk Valley is my choice. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Played 18 at Elk Valley Golf Course, Fairview, Pa.
For value, nice fairways and greens plus scenic views, Elk Valley is great, and if instruction is wanted, Tom Peterson does a great job.
When visiting my Erie, Pa. friends, this is the one I choose, and it's easy to get to from the city via Interstate 90 to the Fairview, Pa. exit west of the city a short distance. Alan Zito
Fun round
Most fairways are generous and good condition.
While the greens are smooth and true, you must remember where the clubhouse is because they will break towards it.
Bring a camera, amazing view from number 14 tee box.
Need a cart on back 9
Traveling golfer delight
The staff was courteous and accommodating.
The fairways were in excellent condition.
The greens were smooth and true.
We played the blues, as the whites were too easy.
Never lost a ball!
Enjoyed
I really enjoyed the course. Would really like to play it again under better weather conditions. The course was wet because of the heavy rain in the area.
Highly recommend people to play it.
Nice layout
Nice Views at Elk Valley Golf Course
This golf course is a nice quiet place for an enjoyable round. It has a great layout with many holes having nice elevation changes from tee to green. Some of the views are worth a quick picture, definitely a course with good scenic value.
The golf course plays quite easy. There aren't many hazards other then a pond or two, and no bunkers. Other then dealing with a couple hilly lies most players should expect better then average score here, if they can stay out of the trees.
The course conditions were decent for the start of the season. I would like to see the greens smoother and cut shorter because they ran very slow. The red tee blocks also should be better cared for. Many were in much worse shape then the whites. The rest of the course was well maintained.
I would definitely play this course again if i was in the area and would recommend it to others.
Excellent Greens
I gave this course a 3 star for conditions because the tee boxes and fairways need some work, but the greens are some of the best. I would challenge many private clubs to have softer or faster greens. The greens are what always bring me back.
