Welcome to the swamp

Not a bad course, but I was not a fan. Maybe I have been spoiled by the other courses in the Hilton Head/Beaufort area. Staff was very friendly. Fairways and rough were not very well maintained, greens had some bad spots too. Would only play this course again if it was my only option. Not trying to bash this course, but there are just better options in the area. It also didn't help that I was stuck behind a foursome that was obnoxiously slow.

Great course

This course has only been open for two years from what we learned. The greens (with the exception of a few) were in great condition. Fairways were good but the grass around some of the greens needed some time to grow in.
Overall this is a very good golf course and well worth the time to play.
We travelled from Hilton Head Island which was just over an hours drive.

Gem off Island

It was good to find TGC. The rain prior to our playing made the course green and lush. The course is owned by the residents for the last 3 years. It is great to see the pride in the people who are in clubhouse. They make you feel welcome. We will be returning for sure!!!

Wildlife abound

We played this course on a Saturday afternoon. We were the only people out. Course had a lot of crab grass and tall grass, but the bunkers were soft and obviously kept up. There was wildlife every where, from gators to deer. Which is something you like playing in South Carolina. Overall it was a good time. Beautiful course.

great staff

Enjoyed talking with staff. So very friendly. Very nice and scenic layout with all kinds of wildlife. Course conditions were average to below average. Greens rolled well but some had dead spots. Fairways were green but crabgrass is beginning to take them over. Worried that money is tight for them just as it is for many other courses in these times. Hope they survive because the layout is great and the staff deserve it.

Quite Getaway

Great escape from the normal Saturday morning rounds in the big cities. Very scenic and tranquil. For the average weekend golfer. Not overly challenging, but plenty of opportunities to bogey or double. Will be back.

the veiw makes it worth while

played this course a few times, since it re-opened about 3 years ago, slow steady improvement, but still pretty rough. layout and scenery are great, poor reception with resentment for booking hot deal by club house, "you know we don't get anything when you book that way?" We play this course for variety and an inexpensive day on the course, and try not to let the personnel or lack of distance markers, rough fairways ruin our day- focus on the good.

Outstanding layout

My favorite course in Beaufort County. Takes advantage of the natural beauty of the Lowcountry. Good shots are rewarded and bad shots can be recovered. Greens are true and fast with subtle breaks. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Course is on the way back!

Enjoyed this course. The greens were fast and true, and there was plenty of water and length to keep things interesting. The owner is in his 2nd year of getting this course up and running again after it had closed some time ago. The fairways are a bit sparse in some areas, and the tee boxes could use a little more manicuring. However the course is coming along and is worth a try if you're in the area. Good practice area, nice clubhouse, and a solid course for ladies since the tees are generous for females.
