Typical Fazio
Course was pretty difficult to get on, I new a member who got the ball rolling. Staff were very professional and friendly. Course conditioning was outstanding. Layout was very similar to Fazio layouts that i've played in Florida. Most of the course is right out in front of you with no tricks. Generous fairways with good strategic bunkering. The best part of this course were the greens. The ball rolled flawlessly with a lot of speed. If you were above the hole, you were definitely just playing a safety. If you hit your approach on the proper side, you could take an aggressive line with your putt.
I would definitely play this course again.
The River flows so beautifully
If water makes you squeamish, don't dare mess with the River, the first course built at the exclusive Kiawah Club. It's such a peacefully place, winding along the Kiawah River, tidal marshes and Bass Pond. But there's gators and lost balls lurking in every water hazard.
The shortest par 4 on the course is fun (the 343-yard fifth) and kicks off a great finish to the front nine. The par-4 seventh and par-5 eighth flow in opposite directions on opposite sides of Bass Pond. The 218-yard 17th hole, climaxes the round and is the best of a stout collection of par 3s.
The facilities - especially the relaxing hangout of the men's locker room - and mammoth clubhouse are off the chain.
Low Country Gem
The River Course on Kiawah Island is a Low Country Gem. This private club is excellent at almost everything. From its amazing clubhouse and locker room to the southern hospitality you receive while on property this place is worth the stop. The course provides a challenges for all level players. The golf course perfectly placed amongst the marsh and oak trees. Make sure you have a homemade southern cocktail at the comfort station on the back 9. I would play a late afternoon round and watch the sun set coming in on 18 and then hang out the in the club for some snacks. You will never see a nicer men's locker room then here!
