Reviews
Surprised
Played this course twice in the past, the last time was about 3 years ago and was very disappointed in the conditioning that time. This time we were looking for a quick round on the way back home so we thought we would give it another try
.
I was pleasantly surprised at the improved conditions. There were a handful of greens and tees which could use quite a bit of work but overall the conditions were vastly improved over my last visit.
The layout is quite acceptable, the gentleman behind the counter was very pleasant and the pace of play was just what we wanted, much better than some of the 5 hour plus rounds we played earlier in the week at other courses.
It is quite obvious this course needs more rounds played to be able to continue to afford to make improvements.
I will definitely give it another try next April and hope it continues to improve.
Poor putting surfaces
The course itself could you some greening up. If it rains were horrible I had to straighten put that 1 foot from the whole hopped right three times. The greens are in real disrepair.
First time Around
Wanted to check out this track because it's close by. My wife and I were greeted by Mike who was very accommodating. We raced around quickly to beat the rains. A few fairways were a little sparse and a couple tee boxes were mostly sand but most of the others were good. Greens are not in great shape yet, so played two putt and had fun!
What you pay for
Played with a group of 4 all of a different skill range, my brother's wife is an absolute beginner, my brother and I are ok, usually shooting about 100, my boyfriend shoots par...we all just wanted to go out, drink a few beers, have a few laughs and a good time and for $18 dollars per player on a Saturday we got what we paid for. If you consider yourself a serious golfer and are looking for a course with beautiful fairways, excellent greens, nicely raked bunkers, immaculate tee boxes, etc etc... You won't really find that here, because you're essentially getting what you paid for. It's just an average golf course that's fun to play with a group of friends. Only draw back, you can't take your own cooler and the beer is $17 or so for a six pack of mostly domestic stuff, with a few options for the snooty beer drinker (like myself!).
Better elsewhere
Will not return until I read they finally do something with the condition of this course. Its not worth the gas to get there even if it's less expensive.
Pro shop staff needs to have an attitude improvement.
Find somewhere else.
I have never gave a bad review, although if you have other choices stay away. I went with family we played 6 courses this week and all were reasonable for weather. But this course is awful conditions. Over half tee boxes were PURE SAND. One we had to tee off the box because it was so sandy. Greens are black and fairways are sandy and no grass as well. If I would read this I wouldn't have gone. Clubhouse guy had hotdogs made for his buddies he said but we couldn't buy any. Rather go putt putt then go here. Stay Away if you like golf.
HAD A FUN DAY
First time at this course. Greens need work but it is early in the season. Fairways were pretty good and absolutely loved the course layout. Had enough water and sand to make it a bit challenging but not so tough that anyone can't play it and have a good time. Staff were friendly and accommodating and we just had a good time. Pace of play was excellent as well. One of my more favorite courses that we've played in the M.B. area. Would definitely play it again.
Early March
Temperature was good and rate was only $20 but that was probably $10 too much......fairways and greens wear awefull condition.....nobody there and played in 2.5 hrs though.
The course was mot in very good condition
It was disappointing that the price to play was the same as golf now so it cost us more with the fee.
Enjoyed the Course
The weather in early February was a perfect 70 degrees, with blue skies, after some rain & clouds in the morning. Head Pro, Joey was there to greet golfers and made the round friendly. There were some wet areas on the fairways, but expected due to the rains. Layout is good, some challenging holes mixed in with easier ones. Wide fairways, and sand bunkers only where necessary to make the holes appealing. Only problem were the greens. Many were uneven, with little grass. With spring weather coming, I expect the course to "green up" and the putting to be much better. I recommend to give this course a try in the next few months.
Awesome Weather
Course is very beautiful among the long needle pines and many ponds. Fairways and greens were in fair condition. Would play the course again.
Bill from Akron
Played Briarwood on a hot deal. I arrived and was told I needed to show my confirmation number ( never required at any other course since using GN) The course was in terrible shape, greens unputtable, not worth the drive.
