This course is beautiful
Amazing mountain views, welcoming staff, and great course layout.
Very fast greens
This was my second time playing Bear Mountain. I love playing this course because of the fresh air, mountain scenery, and course layout. I had a playing partner Richie who has also played this course. The fairways and greens were very fast. In fact after your drove hit the ground it would roll at least another 50 - 60 yards. The greens required a very gentle touch to get the ball rolling to the cup. I gave the pace of play a 3 because there was a group of 5 ahead of us that basically took their time. All in all it was great to play Bear Mountain again.
Solid course
This is my 1st time at this course and I enjoyed. 2 of the greens, however were in rough shape, especially gold 8. It was discolored, sandy and nearly unplayable. Fairways are in solid condition. The pace and staff were great. I would play there again.
I expected more…
First time playing this course. For the price they charge, I was expecting a decent course. What we got was average course with barely any signage, the upkeep was ok. The views of mountains and such was beautiful and staff was really friendly, but for the amount of money this cost, I would not recommend this to anyone. Standing water everywhere, the course was in ok shape, but for a tourist town and the cost…not even close to worth it. Shame
No Marshall, slow pace of play.
I like the course and the location. Greens are super fast, down hill down grain. But the pace of play is unbearable! They allow six somes and five somes so three and four groups get backed up on the tees and it takes three hours to play nine short holes of golf! The Bear of Bear mountain golf is unbearable pace of play!
Another Beautiful Day!!!
We freaking had such a great day. My 10 year old beat me for the third time. That was awesome. Made some friends up there over the last 2 years and it’s nice to see those guys and gals.
Nice 9 hole course
Nice course. Beautiful mountain views from most holes.
They need to get real with the price of play!
$55 for 9 holes? Course is short, not really that great and for $110 for 18 holes..,,.there are 1000,s of other courses that I could play for that, that are better and longer.
The only reason I play here is that it’s local, but this getting tiresome.
Perfect Golf Day
Every time I come here to play this course I have never been disappointed. The weather is perfect with mild wind and the greens are moderately fast but consistent. I booked my time thru Golfnow and the price is pretty good walking because I like to walk. I was paired with a couple and a single and they were all nice. This is a good way to meet other players from different locals.
Truly half an 18 hole course
The course has two par fives and is long enough that if you play it twice it’s the same as a regular 28 hole course
Nice local course.
First time playing here this season(opened up 2 days before I played).
The course was probably in better shape than I have ever seen it
The pace of play was excellent, with no one pressuring us from behind and no waiting for the group ahead.
I think it’s a little pricey for what you get, but it being a local course, I’d rather play here sometimes instead of driving an hour to the closest courses.
Expensive for what you get
I’m not sure if it’s because this is the only course on the mountain or what, but $90 for a 18 hole round of golf where you play the same 9 holes twice is ridiculous. I was hoping they would get real with green fees. I think maybe $50 for 18 holes and $30 for 9 holes, with a cart, would be more in line for what you are getting. I can name 20 courses within a reasonable drive that offer a better course, better amenities and for less money.
Solid Course for the Location
The course was very green and had nice sand in the bunkers. It was fairly bumpy and some spots were close to the road, but I would play it again when visiting the Big Bear area.
Golf Big Bear
Layout was a bit confusing on the first 3 holes, but overall good experience. Not overly difficult, great views and scenery. Fairways and greens in decent shape. Would play again. Good value for the money.
