Off Season
We played this course during February so payed their off season rate of $55 to ride. They were winter conditions so the grass in the fairway was dormant but playable. This course has changes in elevation and several water carrys. The greens were in excellent condition and the carts are well maintained.
WC
Great location in west Knoxville across from Fox Den Country Club. It was the original course to host the Knoxville Open (one the PGA's sub tours). Greens are bermuda and very fast. Lots of hills and creeks. Need to play it a couple of times to adjust your game off the tee. Each year they have difficulties with a couple of low laying fairways.
The greens are awesome
PGA like greens! . The fairways and roughs were in rough shape but . Holy cow those greens are great. Beat thing since bread and butter.
Great course, superbly challenging!
I played this course for the first time this past summer. I was trying out different courses for a USGA qualifier, and this was one of them. Drove 4 hours to play it, and was duly impressed!
The greens and length make this course! I tend to find a lot of layouts that provide a shot for shot challenge, still have the length, and provide exceptional greens...this is one of them!
I've never played greens as slick as these were that day. However, they were fair once you got the speed down. Took awhile to get use to how receptive they were on spinny chip shots as well.
Will absolutely be visiting again once the weather gets warmer!
Good Course, Okay Value
Played this course following rain and it was in surprisingly good condition. Most bunkers were still in great shape. A couple had water, but very minimal. Hole layouts give this course a pro feel. Tight fairways force you to play irons off some tees. The only drawback to this course is that it's VERY expensive for what you get. $10 less on every rate would put this course right on par for what it is worth.
Always a good time.
The layout is challenging but fair for all golfers. The new greens have finally come into their own. They had a few fairways that were resided last season and they have recovered well. Good practice facility and bar is a nice spot to hangout after a round. Very walkable.
needs work but great deal
i couldn't be happier with the staff, the restaurant, and overall the course was a great deal. The greens need some attention, people need to learn how to repair a divot. The fairways still need that southern sun to green them out all the way. Overall I gave it a 4/5, if the staff and clubhouse hadn't have been so superb i would have given it a lower score.
Great price for golf now. And great place to play.
A quite place to play and beautiful course. Just a little drive off the freeway. But a bargain every time
Nice course and staff.
For being early spring time the course was in great shape. Greens were quick but not overly so. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Will be back and recommend this course to friends and family.
Still in winter condition
A good course; would like to comeback and play when its grown in for the summer. Bermuda fairways were dead and not overseeded which made i difficult to follow the ball in all of that brown. greens had recently been prepped for the season but they rolled true and were in generally good shape. Will definitely go back.
Good course, Great staff!
Willowbrook is one of my favorite course. The front 9 is fairly wide open where water comes into play on 3 holes . Score low on the front 9 because you will run into the Barrens Triangle on the back and it will get you attention very quickly with errant shots. #12 is a long par 5 which gets very tight from around 150 yds in. #13 is a very tight driving hole with OB left and right off the tee. #14 and #15 are fairly difficult par 4's with OB right. #16 par 5 is a very tight driving hole as well with OB left and right. #17 par 3 has water around the hole. #18- don't hit driver off tee. Water comes into play on 5 of the the back 9.
Willowbrook had issues with a few greens on the back 9 last summer, but the punched the green a month or so ago and they seem to be coming in really good.
Overall this is a very good course. The staff are awesome! Make sure you hit Happy Hour at Boskey's on the #19 and try the Tin Cup!
Overall its a nice course.
Overall its a nice course. The bunkers were under repair but that wasn't a big deal. The greens on the front nine were in good shape but spotty on the back nine. Its a fun course. The one negative is upon checking in it takes way too long. We had to provide the confirmation number for every player, provide name and email. It took about 10 minutes just to pay.
decent course
Everything about this course was good. The only exception was that every time I play, it seems there is always a slow group in front of me. There doesnt seem to be any kind of marshalling to deter slow play, or groups of five or six playing together. I do understand that its the middle of winter, but I dont like sitting in the cart for 20 min before I hit my next tee shot. Other than that, its a decent course for the money.
Great shape, good value.
The course was in good shape, good rate of play, greesn were great.
great course
Playing this course is relaxing. The staff is extremely friendly, they understand the concept of treating the customer like the customer. Management should be proud of their staff. They are very accomadating and go out of their way to insure a positive experience.
The course is maintained in excellent condition at all times.
Unfriendly
Have played this course several times using Golf Now tee times. Last time we played, weather was not good so the course was virtually empty. They still would not let us tee off until our tee time because we used a Golf Now tee time. They said they didn't make any money off Golf Now so we could either wait or leave. We bought another tee time at full price to keep from having to wait 1.5 hrs to tee off. Also, on many other occasions, they allow groups of 5 or more players and they really back the course up. Very slow. WILL NEVER PLAY THIS COURSE AGAIN.
