Reviews
Great course, friendly staff
Fox meadows is in great shape and the staff is friendly. One word of caution as there a pitbull that likes to jump its fence alongside hole five and six and run you off the tee box! The course is in great shape and will definitely play here again
Good start to the day
Overall the course was in good shape despite lots of overnight rain.
Great Course!
I love playing at Fox Meadows! Are there more challenging "nicer" courses? Sure, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a better course for the money, anywhere.
greens need work
They were working on the greens . There were no warnings/signs.
Good in the city course
Very busy. Some slow play. Most greens are pretty good. Some rough fairways. Overall pretty good.
Ladies enjoyed the short course
My buddy & I played from the tips and enjoyed it very much. The wives really enjoyed driving up 100 to 150 yards in front of us and they played well for the first round of the year. Overall we all enjoyed the course. Will play again in the future.
Fun, but beat up
The greens were fine, but there were large patches of grassless ground even in the fairways. The course was fun to play and was a decent challenge otherwise. We played on a great golf now deal, so can't really complain about the value. Out of the 4 courses we have played this week this was easily the one in the worst condition.
Open course
Fox Meadows' course layout is very forgiving for the occasional wayward shot on most holes. Hooray, the cart paths have be completely redone any some drainage issues we corrected in the process. Well maintained facilities.
Good municipal course
The course is pretty decent for a municipal course. The had sanded and aerated the course. The greens had patches of large amounts of sand.
Sunday Fun Day!
Got to get out with some friends and family early Sunday morning to play a little golf. I played at Fox Meadows a TON in high school and college so thought we would check it out. It has been several years but back in the day it was a little rugged and run down. It has taken a 180 degree turnaround and is actually a nice course for public standards. Should play it more often!
Great Course for Beginners
This was my third time ever playing this course and of all the City of Memphis courses I have played, I would have to say that Fox Meadows is #2 on my list.
Fox Meadows offers a traditional links style golf setting with wider fairways that are in fairly decent shape. The course has little to no "thick" rough which provides golfers some flexibility off the tee. There are some holes that water comes into play which in my opinion gives the course more character and makes the golfer strategize to some degree about what club would be best to use. Additionally, this course has some sand traps but most if not all are green side bunkers. I was lucky enough to only find the bunker once in my golf outing but I will say the bunker I played from was in very good shape.
I normally use a range finder during my rounds and I did notice that a couple of the yardages on the score card for the par 3's were 15-20 yards off. I would caution to trust the scorecard yardages on those holes. Lastly, the greens were in very good shape for a Memphis City course. The greens may have been a little drier when I played because they were somewhat fast but not ridiculous.
Overall, I would recommend this course to any beginner golfer for its forgiveness and to any more experienced golfer if they would like to reap the benefits of having a course where birdies are much more easier to come by than normal.
Last but not least, I wanted to make mention of the price for the course. I was lucky enough to get the hot deal price of the day for the course. I played during the weekend for only $15 for 18 holes with a cart so you can't beat that! I'm not sure what the normal price is for the weekend, but I believe it's in the neighborhood of $35.
Horrible, Waste Money for Traveller
Extremely Horrible Golf Course.
Never go there!!!!!
Tee it high
First time around this track and had a good time. Leave the wedges home and bump and run your way to a good score.
