Personally feel like this course has gone downhill on conditions. In the past it use to be above average. Yesterday, I used points that I accumulated for a free round knowing what to expect, but also hoping for some improvement since it's been alittle while. Pro shop is fine and staff friendliness. Clean and organized for its size. Range was pretty bad with severe uneven ground while hitting. Every since green on the course and p4actice areas were covered in weeds which sucked. Sand bunkers were like concrete or gushy. Can't really help that unless the staff as well as players rake the bunkers after themselves or if mother nature decides to downpour so. Fairways were ok for the most part. Tee boxes were uneven and beaten up but that's again most average public courses. I just wish that there were actual grass to chip and hit off of. And better green conditions. Might as well not line up your putt cause you never know where the weeds were gonna knock it offline too. To be honest, I only played there because that was the only course open that day at a particular time and I needed to cure an itch. If you're not a dedicated serious golfer then this review doesn't matter to you.
Low Quality Course
Tee Boxes were uneven with holes to avoid. Fairways were equal parts dirt and grass and hard. Greens were not in good shape with weeds throughout. Very little difference between rough and fairways and greens. Course layout isn't bad with length and shape of holes and decent hazards to keep it interesting. Greens are small, hard and fast. Surrounded by houses, apartments and main highways.
Love this course!
This is a great course with great people working here. I always enjoy playing here. However, the course is running low on golf carts, so that's the one downside. The course is in great shape and the greens putt true. Well worth the price.
Course is in good condition
The course is in great shape for this time of year. The is playing a lot harder for me. The greens and pen location is tough.
Atascocita
The course was in generally good shape, but recent rains have left it pretty wet in spots which makes for much needed mowing. Several holes were cart path only. The two major problems are no ball washers or water coolers. The staff is always friendly, and yesterday several groups let me play through.
The course was decent.
This was a decent course that I would play again. I played on 12/30 and 12/31/24. Both days were cart path only which was disappointing, but due to the recent rain, understandable. The golf carts were not in great condition and only serviceable. The pro shop staff were helpful, professional and courteous. The course had many bald spots which is understandable for a public course. On the 30th the pace of play was average and slow on the 31st. If you are just looking to get a round in at a decent price, this is a good place to accomplish that.
CPO???
Not sure why this course has so many cpo holes. They do have some areas under repair and staked off already, but not necessary to make it a cpo hole(s). As long as the areas are staked / marked, it should be ok. This place also needs some ball wash stations on the course.
Best bang for the buck!
Atascocita is my home course. I live in Kingwood area. Can't beat his course for the price. The greens get better every year since the re-open several years back now.
Wasn’t bad for the price
Taking into consideration the cost to play there…it wasn’t all that bad. Greens need work and fairways are decent. Course lay out had some challenging holes. I would consider going back.
