Stansbury Park Golf Course

About
This golf course is located about 15 minutes west of Salt Lake City. As a whole the course is a tough challenge. Several holes require drives and/or second shots to be placed between water hazards on both sides of the fairway. Most of the par threes require a carry over water.
The greens tend to be fast and the ground hard which allows shots to roll on that land just in front of the greens. The course is always in good shape although there's a few patches of ratty grass.
The course layout is built in the middle of a housing development. There is nothing natural -- everything was designed and built. The course is flat with many lateral ponds as the main hazards. One good point is that the course side houses do not encroach upon the course like many housing development golf courses and OB rarely comes into play.
The course is usually open early in the season (February) and closes late (November). There is a small driving range and a practice green. The pro shop staff and the locals are friendly.

good value
Pretty great place to play, still don't understand how hard it would be to put water in the ball cleaners at the tee boxes but they are always dry. weird. good fun neighborhood joint usually slow but this day wasn't too bad
Not very well taken care
The course is very poorly taken care of. Fareways were hit and miss if you were going to be in a good spot or not. The greens were covered in huge divots. Majority of the tee pads were serviceable with the exception of a few bad ones. We got hot dogs between back 9 and front 9 and un eatable. With all that said it is a fun layout and for how cheap it is, it's still golf and worth the price, just don't have high expectations.
Great bang for your buck but no pace enforcement.
Had a tee time at 8:10. The group in front of us was a 2 man and the group in front of them was a 4some. During the whole front 9 we were held up on the tee boxes because the 4some was taking their sweet time. I’m talking 25 mins a hole. We’re terrible players as well but we know how to play fast. They would chunk almost every shot and continue to play, inching their way to the green. Then line up every single putt as it were the Masters on the line. We were waiting so long we started to watch YouTube videos on the tee box because the group in front of us was waiting for them to get out of the fairway. They took so long the 4 some BEHIND us also joined us on the tee box. I told the clubhouse and and was told when they get some time they’ll go out there and ask them to speed up. Unfortunately the back 9 was even worse. After the 10th and 11th, the employees never came.. We should’ve just skipped both groups but why should I play less golf when people are being inconsiderate? So the back 9 took us 3 hours. Started at 8am and finished at 1pm.The course for your money is good. Cheap golf with nice water hazards. Nice big greens. Can’t complain. But 5 hour round for a 2 group is just way too slow. Debating returning again for the reason if the clubhouse will try to solve it I have a problem again.
Great value, good conditions
I like this course more and more that I take advantage of the specials they offer and play here. Weekends are usually a 5 hour pain fest with a full course and because of price you get a lot of folks who know nothing about course etiquette, pace of play or allowing folks to play through. This weekend was no different so we twosome skipped a hole and joined a two someone ahead and had a great time, finished in 3.75 hrs, record time. Try it if you haven't played it.
Great round at Stansbury Park GC
Stansbury Park GC is a fun, challenging course with lots of water hazards and challenging layout ; my boys and I enjoy playing there because of the friendliness of the staff and the challenges throughout the course; the only negative for this round was a homeowner just off the 5th tee box, a challenging par 3 over water, decided to holler in our backswings which was distracting and intentionally meant to affect our swings; otherwise, the round was great with a good pace of play.
Fine until the storm
Was having a good round but right before the turn, a storm rolled in fast and that was it for almost everyone. After about 45 mins I tried to go back out, played two holes so got in 9 but course was a mess. Got a coupon for 9 and left. Wet and done for the day. Course still needs to cut the rough to make the rough reasonable for amateurs.
Decent course for the money
Pros: Nice, older layout. Mature trees and well positioned water that makes to consider risk/reward. Soft, receptive greens.
Cons: A lot of burnt and bald/hardpan spots close to greens. Large roots protruding on some greens. Pace was slow, but it was a Sunday morning.
Slow front 9; quick back 9
Stansbury Park GC is a fun course that provides ample challenge and risk-reward opportunities; it is a popular course for those who live in the area which makes a busy course with players of varied skill levels; I was partnered with another single off the first tee box which made it a fun round; the front 9 was slow, but after a couple of groups stopped after 9-holes, we were able to join another single whose two group partners only played 9-holes; the back was fairly wide open until we got to hole #16 with a 2-some that slowed us considerably; it was a fun round and will not deter me from playing the course when I am available.
Good round despite senior league tournament
Stansbury Park GC is a fun, challenging course that I enjoy; the staff always seems to be friendly and accommodating; the course conditions have changed from earlier in the season due to the recent triple digit temperatures; the tee boxes, fairways, and parts of some greens have been affected; unfortunately, the hot weather may not allow the course to recover to the same state it was in earlier in the season, but I think the course still provides a good round at a good price.
Course was in very good shape
Stansbury Park GC was a very pleasant round of golf for our 4-some; the course was in very good shape and played well, although the rough was quite rough (long grass); the pace of play was a bit slow, but the round was fun and what I have come to expect from Stansbury Park GC; I will definitely look to play there again this season which I had avoided after last year when the course was in poor shape.
Kudos to the course superintendent and grounds team.
Getting better
I played this course a couple of years ago and it was terrible. It looks like it is starting to get into a much better place. Greens are quick. It can be a difficult course in where water is placed. But overall can be a fun place to golf.
Good couse in general.
Few soggy spots and lots of overgrowth just off fairway..
getting better but...
Yes they finally cut the rough, but keep cutting. The pace was better as folks actually could find their balls off the fairway. The more they keep the rough down, the better. There is enough water to challenge the player. 6 inch grass is not needed to challenge anyone. I hadn't planned to play here again but glad I did, I will continue to give them a chance as summer weather will help slow rough growth and maybe make the place fun
they need to cut the rough
ok, what, were they setting this up for a tourney...just kidding but 2nd time here in two weeks and 1st time was told the rough isn't usually so high, 2nd time, not coming back. We along with every group spent nearly 5 mins a hole (felt like) looking for balls 2 ft off fairway in 6 inch grass. Good luck. This is not friendly or fun for golfers. I would love to play the course if it was mowed like Valley View where I played Sunday. Reasonable rough is one thing, losing balls unless you step on them is stupid. 5 hour round should have been 4 1/4
Nice surprise
Course was better than expected. Rough was tough with all the rain growing it faster than usual but overall a great value.
Nice greens
After years of poor greens they are starting to look top notch, as good as any course around.
