Looking back at hole #4 Photo submitted by ckwak on 05/05/2013
No welcoming
Me and a buddy went for a round of golf for the first time at this course. Called 3 days before for a price. when we got there the guy running the pro shop says the price went up this month *only by $10*. No hello or welcome to the club. Then he barked it is still a deal for this course. We paid and walked to get the golf cart which was so slow on the 2nd hole we called to get another and that one was just as slow. for $20 a seat! The golf course was very nice and we had a good time playing. The pro shop manager's bad attitude put a sour on the experience. We will not be back.
Can't miss in Olympia
Indian Summer is in my club's reciprolcal network so I am not sure what the green fees are but I would have no problem paying $100 here. Nice Course winds through a residential area amongst tall trees. While the fairways are often lined with houses they are set far enough back that they rarely come into play. Very enjoyable course interesting holes with room to miss on some and not so much on others. Course was in great shape both times I have played it. Poa greens like a majority of NW courses greens that roll quickly they were probably around 10 when I played but I imagine they can speed em up more if they want/need to. I really like this course a lot the holes are interesting and each par 3 requires a different club which I like. Course is walkable but there are a couple of holes that require a bit of a walk between holes that and the fact that 3 holes play in right of way where powerlines take away from the views are my only (minor) criticism. Nice Clubhouse, good food, small driving range. If you like parkland style courses with deep bunkers, tall trees and a Northwest vibe I reccomend you play here if you get the chance.
One of the best in the State of Washington
One of the best golf courses in the state of Washington, this Peter Thompson design will force you to utilize every club in your bag, rewarding great shots and punishing those that are a bit off the mark. There is no "gimmie" hole on the course as every hole requires strategic placement of your drive and precise second or third, if not, a menacing bunker (some are just plain unfair) and water hazard await to swallow your precious Titleist Pro V1.
The Championship tees will play at around 7,320 yards, which starts benign with a 388 yard par 4 hole, but then turns on the heat from second hole on. If you get to hole #5 relatively unscathed, you walk upon a 593 yard par 5 with a sliver of fairway waiting for you.
Beautiful old growth forest along with a stunning view of Mt. Rainier from multiple holes frame this beautiful course and with unique design that places the resident homes way out of play. I would place this course against some of the other greats in the state (Tumble Creek CC, Snoqualmie Ridge, Aldarra CC and Sahalee).
